Hi!
I am thinking about asking my doctor about the patches. The Kadian is NOT working and I do not want to go up in dosage because my insurance is giving me a really hard time since I switched from the generic mscontin. They aren't covering much on the Kadian.
I don't have a breakthrough medication anymore! :( I really need to switch to something else! I plan on re-reading the sticky on them, since it has been a few months.
But does anyone know if they are expensive or not? I'm sure my pain doc will want me on the NON generic one. Or should I ask about Opana?
Thanks!

Fentanyl is all generic now as Fentanyl. With my insurance it is $5 Dollars for a months supply. Oh and you may want to ask about the Fentanyl Lollopops for the breakthrough pain. They come in many different dosages like 150 mcg all the way up to 1000 or something. They were also $5 with my insurance for a box of 120 for a month.
Good Luck!

Thanks Kara!
The cost of Kadian is ridiculous, even with the $50 a month coupon they give me. I'm paying around $400 a month! WITH anthem! :(
I'll ask about the pops, too. Thanks!

i switched from kadian to opana 2 months ago and i really like it.they give me a card to save $30 a month on it and i still pay $35 after the discount, but its worth it.the kadian did nothing for the pain and gave me HORRIBLE constipation.the opana was just bumped up to 20 mgs and its helping better, although i think their putting me up to 40 mgs next month.the best thing is that its not morphine so thats why no constipation, they said its like dilaudid.anyway if you want to know anything else about it just ask away or pm me.jamie

I'm doing well with the fentanyl patch; my co-pay is a little higher than Kara's but that would be due to my particularly crappy insurance coverage. (Really, if my cheap*** insurance will cover it fully, I think any plan probably will.) I get oxycodone in 5 mg. pills for breakthrough, and my doctor lets me take anywhere from 1 to 3 pills at a time as needed.
Usually when I need more than one or two doses of the oxycodone in a day, I eventually realize that I've forgotten to change the patch, LOL. Yes, we do write the date and time on it, but they will only stick on my back so I don't see them! And Jack is away a minimum of one week out of each month, so this has happened several times. Then it's a fuss bc. I have to get my mom to come over and change it (bc. it's on my back, I can't see it or reach it, and I won't let my daughter touch them). But it works really well, and I think most people are probably less spacy than we are and can manage to change it on schedule. :)

Thanks so much!
I will ask for something to change :( I just wish I could get back to something that worked. *sigh*

Kara
