Ever since Aug. 21st of this year, I've been taking one pain pill a day so I could go to work. I try not to take them on the weekends. Well, I had started feeling so much better that I thought I could try to add some foods to my diet (ones I used to eat/drink all the time). I started having a small amount of low acid orange juice in the morning. Well, today I didn't have to work, so didn't take a pain meds and I've had that awful pressure on my bladder and the feeling or needing to go when I really don't have to go. Do you think the pain meds have been hiding my symptoms that much, or do you think it could be the orange juice?
I really wanted to try foods again and knew to avoid green tea and diet cokes, but now I don't know about other things like spaghetti sauce.

It could have been the juice. You might try watering it down some more.

I really can not tell you. The only way to tell is to try them with a pain pill. I hate trial and error. I know that sadly pain pills do not seem to do much for me. I am still tring to figure it all out. Personally, I have really bad urgency not too much real pain. I think pain pills help with real pain. (Not that urgency is not pain but it is different) I would have to guess that tomato and oj would not be the place to start. At this very moment I think I can live with out those things if I could just eat some others. But I should not speak so soon. For some reason we have a lot of tomato foods for holidays. I am just not going to think about that till then. Good Luck. As I said this is just my thoughts. I am still learning.

It could be the fact you didn't take the pain med or it could be the OJ. I know most people have problems with citrus. I am not a big fan of OJ so I haven't bothered to try it since the IC started. I personally have enough pain though that I take at least one pain pill a day no matter if I'm working or not. I don't think of it as hiding my symptoms though I think of it as being able to function with less pain.

Do you have trouble getting your dr to refill your prescription? I don't want him to think I'm a drug addict, but when I go in Oct. 14th, I need to ask for a refill and I don't know what he will say or think. He isn't the most compassinate dr, but I hope I can convince him that I just can't work etc. without some medical help. Those bladder instillations just don't help me that much and don't help with my other symptoms at all.

Just a thought....There are several great pain med threads. You should check them out! I feel for you to be scared to ask you doctor for more pain medicine. I beleive pain meds allow you to live life, not escape from life. I could go on and on (but I should get back to work, lol). This is a disease associated with serious pain.

Please read up on your rights as a pain patient. If your doctor refuses get another doctor. Life is to long to live like that.

Good luck!
