Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I posted. I've been doing Elmiron/Marcaine instills for about a year or so. They did me very well for a few months. I was almost symptom free. But, then it came back. I haven't seen the doctor because I thought maybe it could get my relief back, but no such luck. Anywho!

I'm very seriously considering disability again. I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Ic, GERD, IBS, Chronic Folliculitis, Congenital heart defect (no symptoms from that..but higher risk of MI in future), Chronic vaginal pain, and currently starting to accept that I may be suffering from depression :(

I'm actually passed the point of considering disability...I know I have to now...but I don't know how I will pay for my bills until I get approved. What will I do?? I have to many bills to have no income. My husband works, but he certainly doesn't make enough to support everyone for a couple years. What if it takes that long? Could even be longer. The truth is, we can't even make it for 6 months without some kind of extra income.

I have heard that some jobs carry disability insurance for employees for this kind of situation. Does anyone know about this, or have experience with this type of insurance. Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks so much,
Jenny

It really is a hard situation. Sorry you are also dealing with this.

You'd have to ask your employer about disability insurance from them. In New Jersey, where I live, all wage earners are entitled to up to six months short-term disability payments, if a doctor verifies the disability. Generally, you put the application through your employer, but the insurance is from the state. Most states have short-term disability programs, but the amount paid and length of time may vary.

Unconnected to the above, you are permitted to earn up to $900.00 per month while applying for SSD. And you can be on short-term State disability when you apply for SSD. There are some restrictions about payments if your short-term disability overlaps your SSD approval (not very likely), but I don't know the details. There's a lot of helpful information at SS website: www.ssa.gov

That's all the information I have. Good luck with it all.

Well, good, I hope it works out for all of you. Social Security's website is surprisingly well organized and informative. It's a good place to start.

I recommend you look through some of the older threads in this forum. Elle has posted a lot of useful information, and I've posted a few times too. There are so many of us either on SSD or trying to be on it, a lot of people have shared their stories with us.

I also live in New Jersey and received short term disability payments for 6 months. After the 6th month I applied for S.S. and a private plan that I had a work (which you asked about). So far I have been turned down by both plans. I have appealed the S.S. and will now appeal the private plan. It's only been 2 months without any disability. I wanted you to be prepared for it.

I have similiar illnesses that you have and then some. I thought for sure I would get it. I do think it will work out and eventually be accepted but I will have to go to a lawyer to get it.
