My name is Desiree and I am 31. I was diagnosed 6 years ago after have many "uti's" with negative cultures. I had a wonderful gynecologist who first suggested I had IC after my neg cultures and suggested the IC diet. I went home and pulled up the IC network and was very overwhelmed by what I read.
I was referred to several urologist who thought putting me on OAB medication (ie detrol) to control frequency would cure me. Which caused me more pain. One urologist I went to said there was nothing more he could do for me but he did refer me to one of the best IC specialist in NC (in my opinion the world) His name is Dr Robert Evens in Greensboro NC.
I have been reading the IC boards for years learning and taking advice. Coming to them for comfort when I am in a flare. They have been a life saver to me! I feel like I have something to contribute to the message boards now since I have taken advantage of almost all the treatments : ). I do rescue instills everyday, take quite a few medications (pyridium, Lexapro, Atarax, Valium, and Vicoden) I have also about 6 months ago finally decided to do Physical Therapy for my PFD. The best thing I could have ever done and wish I did it a long time ago! I am scheduled to get the interstim in January. Very nervous but very excited as well. I am so happy to finally be able to interact with everyone!
Oh by the way I have a wonderful husband will be married 5 years in October and a 2 year old. I will post pictures later. I love "seeing the faces of IC members!
