Confused about IC

Hello ladies, I am a brand new member that is completely confused. :help: Let me give you guys the short version. Back in 2003 I had a hysterectomy due to cancer of the uterus. Everything was pretty normal until 2005. Then all of a sudden I was retaining water like no tomorrow. Gained 20 lbs in water. Doctor put me on Lasik. Went to my ob/gyn in April of this year, and he did an internal and urine sample, and told me I had IC. Their were ulcers on my bladder lining. And I had horrible pain above my pelvic bone. He put me on Elmiron. Had surgery in July of 2007. Doc told me I was a sticky mess inside. A bunch of scar tissue was surrounding my bladder. Now my question is, I keep reading that everyone is peeing frequently with IC. My thing is without my Lasik pill, I only pee twice a day. Which is why I am retaining water, and my fingers look like little sausages. Does this sound like IC to anybody. I am confused and getting really depressed.

Don't be depressed. There are answers but they could take a series of visits, tests, etc. to determine. First, make sure you have a doctor you trust. If you want a second or third opinion - go ahead and get one. There is nothing wrong with trying to validate what is going on with you.

Most of all - be positive and know that with the right dr. you will start to unravel the mystery. I know this because I'm still in the detective stages and I go back and forth - I have IC - I don't have IC - depending on what I've read.

It's easy to get into a funk over this but remember - there are lots of people here to support you and encourage you and provide their perspective on things.
