I have a couple of questions about IC. When you are on pain meds, does it help to calm down your symptoms of frequency and bladder pressure? I know on the days I take a pain pill, I don't seem to go as often and the bladder pressure is a lot easier to live with. I just didn't know if this is in my head or for real. Also, when you are in a flare, how long does it generally last? I didn't even know I had IC until a month ago, but I have been in pain and discomfort ever since. Will it ever stop? I am on Elmiron and I know I was told it could take months for it to help with symptoms, but is that what I have to wait for or is there a chance that I will get better before then? I have been gradually getting worse since the 25th of July. I'm some better since starting meds, but no where near normal.
Thanks for any help!

Are you following an IC diet? drinking enough water?
If your answer to both is yes, I suggest you call your doctor so you can be checked to be sure you don't have an infection --- and to ask for some meds to help you feel better.
Warm healing thoughts,

HI Agape,
I'm sorry you're having such a hard time getting a handle on your IC. Each of us is different in symptoms, meds etc....and how symptoms react to meds.
For me, taking pain meds really bothers my bladder.....makes things worse.
Elmiron does take quite a while to start to rebuild the lining of the bladder.
If you are having frequency and urgency maybe you should ask your dr. for Elavil or one of the other meds for that.....instead of taking pain meds for it. Taking Freeze Dried Aloe Vera also helps with bladder discomfort......and it's sold here on ICN.
Don't give up......things will get better!
