Hi...I am brand new to this forum. Which form of Prelief works for those in the forum? I took it for the first time in a pill form 15 minutes before I had pizza with tomato sauce and it didn't help. Am I taking this wrong? Any success stories?

Thank you for any advice.

Well, prelief doesn't work for everyone. I am not very diet sensitive (coffee, tea, and citrus being the only bad things), but prelief never helped me eat those things. I know that people take 2-3 pills before eating. Some take tums after. Some take Uricet K. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I've found that Prelief is pretty much useless when it comes to the five worst foods for ICers -- coffee, chocolate, tomatoes, diet soda and I forget the fifth! I think it might be cigarettes. Anyway, you must avoid them. I have found the hardest for me was coffee, and have been able to drink it with the Toddy coffee maker. JOY!

Strict IC diet and elmiron is keeping my symptoms in check for now.

Shoot, I was just getting ready to post and ask whether or not I could get away with eating a chocolate chip cookie if I take three prelief first. Just one cookie? Just one???

The only way I can have pizza is to order it without red sauce. And it's actually very good that way.

Trixie: If you take the prelief just a few minutes before that first bite, I would think you might be able to get away with one cookie. Just don't wash it down with coffee or soda! :tsk:

How many Prelief tablets are you taking? The bottle says to take 2 but if I have really bad tummy issues I will take 3. However NO WAY on the pizza with tomato sauce. Have you tried pizza with white sauce (like alfredo sauce) with mushrooms and/or spinach? Very good! Tomatoes, onions, pepper and chocolate are the biggest tummy pains for me right now. If you read many of these forum posts you will see that we all pretty much suffer eating these foods and will avoid them. Hard I know....Check out the IC diet section so you'll know which foods to avoid. The pain simply is NOT worth is especially if it turns into a flare and you end of having severe pelvic pain as a result which has happened to me a number of times on even small things. Like picking onions ouf of my food is not enough for me. If the food sat in those onions I will still become very ill even after I pick them all out. I hope you feel better.

I'll give that a try. Don't worry, there's no way I would ever, ever, ever drink soda or coffee. That's not even a temptation.

Prelief works only against acid. Chocolate is bad because it has caffeine. So prelief won't help with chocolate, or nuts, or MSG, just with acidic food. I take it when I eat out-there's always some tomato, or something acidic in the food, but it also helped me with drinking decaff low acid coffee and some beer (just some). It really worked. I didn't try anything else, I'm scared :) Also, if I;m eating something bad, I eat/drink it on a full stomach. I heard it helps. I don't know.

You should take it with your first bite of food. It neutralizes the acidity.
