The other night I went to drop off my sisters medication at the pharmacy for her including her pain meds. It was a big hassle. First she had to call around as the pharmacy that she was using was special ordering hers (she was taking vicodin 10/325 (white tablets) but they told her at the last minute that they can't do this anymore. (lucky for her she had some left over) she called some other pharmacies and they all told her no they didn't have them and that they couldn't special order them. So she called the one that I use (Walmart) they told her that they had them in stock so I go there; I spend over 1 hour there getting her prescriptions filled- couldn't get her pain meds filled because all of a sudden they tell me that there is no such med as vicodin 10/325 (there is Lortab 10/325 in Yellow- she can't take the yellow because they dye in them makes her jumpy.) I asked them can they special order them for her and she kept telling me that there is no such medication! She agrees to call the doctor in the morning to change it to 10/500 - again something happens; now its 2 days later and my sister calls the pharmacy talks to them and now they are laying the blame on ME! saying that I said she wanted the brand name; well like all insurance including Medicaid it won't pay for it especially if theres a generic(?) available. I told my sister that I didn't tell them that, that I had the same conversion that she had, but who knows anymore. Now they have to get ahold of the doctor again and he is very hard to get ahold of. But my sister said no that I didn't say she needed or wanted the brand name but the pharmarist(?) said yes she said it anyway, I'm about to call them and give her a piece of my mind but if I do that I'm afraid that I won't have any left afterwards!! I told my sister that in all the years that I have been dealing with Walmart that i have never had a problem with them; and I have been going to them for almost 20 years.

I hate when pharmacy's act like that. Has she been taking this medicine long? If they suffered in pain they would maybe realize how some of us must have our pain medication. Some people, I wish I could just slap them.

The brand name is called norco. It and its generics can be ordered on less on back order. I use to sell in this market. The trueth is pharmacies have their highest profin margins on generic pain meds. It sounds like they simple do not want to order it, becasue they make more on the generic 10/500 loratab. To much acetominaphen is really bad for you. That is why these brands were made. Talk to her doc. They might have put her on the lower tylonal level for a reason (like liver problems). Just a thought. I would call and talk to the pharmacy manager.

Yes, she been taking the 10/325 for awhile, but the pharmacy said there is no such thing as vicodin with that amount. The doctor won't give her anything else for her pain said she really doesn't need it. I think we have it straighten up now, all we have to do is wait on her doctor to call it back in.

I am so glad you have it clearned up. It is not vicoden it is called norco. Norco, vocoden, loratab, ect are all hydrocodone and acetaminophen (tylonal). The difference is the amount of tylonal. I think they all come in a 5, 7.5 and a 10. Good luck.
