I saw my uro today and as always he was wonderful. Had to wait a bit but it was worth it. He said he wanted to do chronic anitbiotic treatment in me. (I hope thats what he called I am almost positive it was) He said he would give me 60 Bactrim and when I am flaring take 2 x day for no more than 3 days. Maybe b/c I felt so much better when taking them for an infection I had. I am now tapering off Neurontin. It is not effective for me and cost like 100.00 each month. We are increasing my elavil to 20mg, if that knocks me out to hard I can do 15mg. SoI feel I had a good visit. I spent more time with him today than ever which is nice b/c he is a super intelligent and funny guy. I saw my pcp on Monday and he referred my to gyn for suspected endo. I see them next Wednesday the 19. My uro thinks my pain is IC related but said it was worth getting checked. I wish everyone with IC could see him. He is very knowledgable and has great bedside manner if you can get him to slow down and relax. He tries to help so many and sees so many pt a day he is running 200mph at all times. I hope everyone is doing good. I will be on here on and off. We are moving into our new house starting tomorrow so I'll be busy. If I doon't get to write I hope everyone is doing well and I wish for painless days for all of us!!

Glad you had a good visit, and hope the new med combos work for you. I know what you mean about worth the wait and going 200mph but that is just him LOL. Keep us posted on the new meds. Happy moving.

I'm glad you had such a good appt with him. Leslie and I are really good friends and she speaks so highly of him and the care she's gotten that I have considered making an appt and flying up there to see him. It is so hard to find a uro, especially in a teaching hospital that cares so much. You guys are very lucky to be his patient.

Yes and yes. I also know he goes out of his way to remain in close contact with his patients, and is very flexible for people who live out of town as well. I hear he is also very matter of fact and appreciates patients who are well informed which is awesome for me. Being a nurse can be a blessing or a curse and it is hard to find docs sometimes who don't think they are being second guessed. I also know he is quite talented with the Interstim too.

If someone is going to do interstim in WV they need to see him. He has done over 200 of them and is the leading dr with implantation. I am not at that point yet but if I ever am, no matter where I live, I will get it through him.

That is good to know because I was previously seen at UCLA by the leading urogynecologist in the field and I know he was either number 1 or 2 in the nation so it is good to know he is up there and the quality of care I have been looking for since I left California is right under my nose.

PS--He has always seemed like number one to me from Leslie's perspective with the results of her Interstim. While I know the outcome is indivdual, I have seen this transformation first hand.

Yes Barb he is my #1. After suffering 10 years and no answers and after 1 visit to him I had an answer. Then sticking by me through thick and thin and the rough pregnancy I had with IC. This man is a saint in my book anyway.
