Honestly, we never go on this many trips in a single summer! But since the trip to Paris and the trip to California were partly or mostly subsidized by my husband's company, we decided we could afford to rent a house at the beach for a week. And since our school district doesn't start classes until Sept. 10, we chose the first week in September, which is the most beautiful time of all to be there.

We had perfect weather, the water was warm and not too rough, the house was large and comfortable, and it really couldn't have been better! The kids had a good time and the grownups had a good time. What more can you ask for?

And, I had NO IC SYMPTOMS for the entire week!!! However, there seems to be some Universal Law that Carolyn Cannot Get a Break... the arthritis in my knees pretty much exploded, and I developed a bone spur on my heel. So walking was a bit of a problem. Gotta call the rheumatologist this week.

But I shouldn't complain because this last, extra week of summer was like a dream, every day was as perfect as the day before, and I slept like a baby. Swam in the ocean and even body-surfed. Played in the sand with my kids. Went up to the boardwalk and won them some prizes (because we really need more stuffed animals in the house -- NOT!). Had time to actually talk to and interact with my husband.

I'm so happy to have these peaceful, joyful memories to carry with me as the school year starts and the annual crazyness gets going again.

That sounds so nice Carolyn. I wish we could have gotten a vacation before the craziness of school started. I swear, school started and they all lost their minds and apparently their memories as well because half of the rules they have known about forever flew out of the heads apparently! Oh well, what are you gonna do, can't live with teenagers, can't kill 'em! :smile tee

Oh, I know what you mean! Susannah is starting 7th grade, and I know it will be like every year...

"Did you remember to write down your homework assignments?"
"Don't tell me I have to drive you back to school to get the book you forgot to bring home, again!"
"NO, you can't watch TV on a school day, you barely have time to finish your homework before swim practice, HELLO, this has been the same rule since second grade, what do you mean, you forgot?!"

So I guess it's not going to improve any time soon, huh?
