My main complant is sever urgency. It gets so day I am desperate about getting some help with my "pain". First do you all think ultram works? And does it increase the urgency pain feeling in anyone. I do get some cramps but the urgency is what kills me. Thanks

I take Ultram extended release and for me it's very effective. Some people with IC say it doesn't work at all for them. Interstitial cystitis can be a real puzzle.
Are you following an IC diet?

ultram worked for a while.. I wish it still did, it had fewer side effects for me than anything else

It took me awhile to figure this out, but a low dose of muscle relaxer is what helps me with urgency. About 400mg of skelaton works, or 800mg if it's real bad. I found skelaton doesn't make me sleepy so I can take it during the day.

Many people here report that Ultram works very well for them. I know that if I can get the pain under control with my pain meds and pyridium, then my frequency and urgency also is controlled.
I take Ultram for the frequency and spasms. It doesn't help that much for pain in my case, but is the only thing that consistantly controls my spasms and cuts down on the frequency. I personally think Ultram is the absolute best IC medicine! I've changed pain meds several times throughout the years, but I always come back to Ultram for the spasms & frequency! Of course, everyone is different.

What dosage of ultram do you all take? I've been given the generic tramadol at 10 mgs. It's a small dose, but it seems to be doing some good.
I take 50 mg, and sometimes 100 at a time. It just depends. If 10 is working, that's great. I would stick with 10mg as long as you can since you can always go up to 100 over time.

I take the generic Tramadol 50mg and one tablet a day usually helps me get through the day. However, I think this is causing me to be constipated and also the Elavil, so now what do I do suffer the pain from IC or the discomfort from constipation??
