Hi! I had a vulva biopsy done today and I'm in a lot of pain! Does anyone have any advice on speeding up the healing process? How long will this increased pain last? I have been doing domeboro soaks as the dr told me to do so. I have my period, otherwise I would probably be "bottomless". Hope to hear back! ~Ann

So sorry Annie...Can you use lidocaine gel? That would help the pain if the dr says you can use it..
Hope you feel better soon...

Oh, you poor thing. I had one, too, and it did hurt terribly and mine took a long time to heal. I used sitz baths of warm water to keep it clean and to help with the pain and discomfort but the doctor didn't tell me anything else to do for the pain or healing. This was during my year long dx process and I had no pain meds, lidocaine, nothing, but now knowing what I know that I didn't know then, I sure wish I had demanded something. I cried a lot but didn't know what to ask for or how to ask for anything and that now EX gyn wasn't offering. If you don't have any lidocaine gel, that would definitely help. It shouldn't be hard to get an Rx for, and if this dr won't Rx it for you then try your GP or any doctor til you find one who will get you some. :grouphug: I remember like it was yesterday how much it hurt.

I used to use a spray called Americaine. It is lidocaineI think it is called something else now, but it was really helpful in the numbing the area.
If i remember, I think it stings for a minute or two but then there is a somewhat of a cooling relief. It might be something that sounds like Benzocaine spray.
Hope that helps.
Janice
Please let us know if they find anything. I met a poor 19 year old coming out of the gyn's office yesterday, just bawling because she hadn't been able to find anything to help her with her vulvodynia.
I felt her pain all too well.

Sorry you are in pain. Things will get better as the days go by. I used a spray bottle w/lukewarm water and that seemed to help. I also did alot lounging with my feet up.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hi,
I took advil (but be careful, as it can cause IC flares in some). For me the healing was quick-a few days at most. I just wish it had been more helpful in pinpointing why I had the inflammation.
Best of luck to you.
