over the counter meds..

Just wondering if there are any over teh counter meds that work for frequent urination? i am having a really bad day, i peed over 40 times, and my back is killing me. i am in the process of waitng to go back to the uro for the 2nd time but i need some relief before i go back which isnt until sept. 20 but i am going to try to get the date moved up b/c i am in a lot more pain and its the frequency/urgency is getting worse. Any meds that work without a prescription?

Are you following an IC diet?

There are some meds that might help: AZO has an over the counter pyridium. It will make your urine orange and stains anything it touches, but it might help your pain level. You might also try some plain old Tums. Sometimes that helps.

Really? How do Tums help?? Azo does not seem to be working for me. :(

Jenny, that's one of what my family always called a "why is the sky?" questions. Some ICers put plain baking soda in water to help relieve a flare; Tums is the alternative to soda that I can tolerate and it does help me.
