Does anyone have acne? I have mild acne but enough to it bothering me. It makes me so mad and lowers my confidence. My bf has bad acne but and has tried every kind of natural acne medicine. He sees a dermatologist who just gives him creams that dont work. He was going to try acutain but the warnings scared him. It's serious stuff that messes with your emotions. I need something to work for me and him. Any suggestions??

My son uses proactiv, I do not think it would work for severe acne, but just for a mild case it seems to do ok..You can order it off of the internet.

I have always had a good complesion until recently. It seems like since I have started taking pain medication daily I have been having some break outs. then again, it could be from being a 24 year old with 1 kid to having 4 kids overnight. I'm not stessed, not at all. LOL

I do not have acne, but my 15 year old Daughter does she has it pretty bad that along with Ecxzema that makes her face red and irritated looking. She is always washing her face with cleaners etc trying to get it to go away. She even made a mask from a recipie she found on the Internet using baking soda hydrogen peroxide and vinegar.

She has tried the Proactive and that did not work for her. I had a friend in her early 30's with severe acne and the proactive worked for her. Her complextion totally cleared up.

I put my Daughter on Yaz birth control for the acne. It's helping but not as much as I had hoped for her. I was hoping it would go away and clear her complexion up. I feel really bad for her she is very self conscious about the way she looks because of the acne and also has the ecxzema on her face and on her arms she has it so bad that she wears hoodie sweaters in the summer to cover her arms.

Have you tried birth control for the acne?

I havent tried yz for acne, I recently saw that comercial that it helps. I was looking up natural acne medicine maybe to see if they might help. There's so many different kinds that who knows if they work. I always break out in the same places. It's like I wake up to a new pimple everymorning. The otherday I woke up to 3, one on my chin the others on both sides of my cheeks and one in between my eyebrows. I usually break out right before my period but i'm not getting mine soon so I dont get it. I'm getting so fed up and makeup never fully covers them.
My bf has it worse then me, Last night he got all weird on me after I got out of the shower and ready for bed. He wouldnt let me kiss him or cuddle with him. I got mad b/c he wouldnt talk to me about what was bothering him. I find out this morning that he's so mad about his acne he doesnt know what to do. that he said sometimes he just feels so unttractive and doesnt want to be touched. I told him that he's always attractive to me and It doesnt bother me. He got upset and said that my acne isnt bad that his is way worse. I just tried to be as supportive as I could be. But I'm at a loss of what to do.

Judy,
I am a certified aesthetician( skin care specialist) and paramedical dermal technician. If she scrubs her face too much it will dry out. when it dried out the sebaccous glands will kick into high gear to produce more oil. So scrubbing too much will cause more damage. She should was in the am and at night before bed. Weh looking at cleansers look at the main ingredient. If the first one is water don't use it b/c there is more water than medicine. Benzol peroxide is best. Make sure she doesn't touch her face. All of the dirt and gerns from her hands will clog her pores. she may need an anti biotic to get it cleared up good and then she can work on maintaining the clear complexion. I f one side of her face is worse than the other that is the side she sleeps on and she isn't getting her face clean enough at night before bed. Stay away from caffinated beverages and greasy foods. Oatmeal is good for eczema. Use AVEENO lotion. It has otmeal to help the eczema stay hydrated. When it is dry it irritates a lot easier and is more noticable. I will get out my aesthetics school books and look for some other tips of our trade. I graduated from beauty school in 2002 and haven't worked in my field sine 2003 so my mind is a little rusty. Has she went to a spa and had micrdermabrasion?A lot of derm drs do it too. They use diamond and mineral flakes to remove the dead skin. Usually the first 2 or 3 layers. also a 7 day peel could help. It is an acid that is applied with a q tip in 3 different layers. the peel stays on for 7 days. It removes more layers of skin and she will be sun sensative for a few days. It is really good for surface acne scars and also removes debris deep form the pores. It is expensive though. I think the acid is 50.00 for 2-3 ounces. Make sure a licensed professional does it. If done incorrectly there can be permant damage.

Thanks for all of the tips! I have not taken her to a have any type of Spa treatments. That is a good idea. I have told her not to wash and mess with her face so much. I printed out the tips for her and told her that it could make the acne worse if she is washing her face to much.

I took her to a OBGYN to get the Yaz for the acne and they did put her on 3 months worth of antibiotics.

I've had bad eczema as a child and so has my daughter. The cortico-steroids that are available by prescription today are so, so much better than what was available when I was a child. There are several prescription creams or lotions that can clear up pretty severe cases of eczema. Then you just have to keep the skin hydrated. Trying to dry up the eczema is counter-productive. Even now I have to take off my rings at night or I get irritated skin and then the eczema comes right back.

For acne, I never had much but my daughter has some. We've found that products that combine benzoil peroxide with salicilic acid are most effective in her case. But hers is not very severe, so I don't know.

When the acne on his back had not cleared up by his mid-thirties, my husband did finally get a prescription for accutane, and he had success with it. But for a teenage girl, I would be very very hesitant to use this.

That's all I know about this, I hope it will help someone.

Thanks for your advice. I am going to look for the products that have the benzoil peroxide with salicilic acid and have her try this for the acne. I really need to take her to a dermatologist regarding the eczema.

She did get a prescription from her pediatrician years back for the steroid cream, but we bought it and she used it only a few times because she complained it was making her skin feel like it was burning. She was alot younger then so maybe she will want to try it again. She has had the eczema since she was a baby only a few months old. I remember dressing her in long sleeves when she was a baby because I got tired of explaining to everyone what the rash was all over her arms.
