A kid I used to babysit when I was in highschool was killed in Iraq yesterday. He was on that helicopter that crashed and killed 14 people. He was a sniper based out of a unit in Hawaii. His grandparents lived next door to me growing up in Texas and he and his brother lived 3 streets over in the same neighborhood. His name was Garrett & he was 23 years old. Please pray for his family.

In case you're interested, his myspace is:

He had a pretty wicked sense of humor, as you will see by his quote....

Thank you all for the prayers. It's so hard b/c I feel so lucky that my husband came home---he served from October of 2001 to May of 2003 in Afghanistan....and everytime someone we know gets killed, it just hits my husband especially hard.....he feels guilty for not rejoining the Army when his 8 year contract expired right after he came home from overseas. (He had actually just been in the Army Reserves until he was called to Active Duty). I could feel him tossing and turning in bed last night.....I'm sure he probably didn't sleep too well....so for him it's not only grieving the loss of a friend and neighbor, it's this sense of guilt for not continuing to serve.........and I don't really know how to comfort him.......

May this young man's family find strength in knowing that because of their son we're able to enjoy our freedom here in the USA.
