I found out today that my liver enzymes are high. my doctor is sending me for a liver ultrasound to be on the safe side. she believes some meds can alivate your liver enzymes. Has anyone experienced this? I am little bit concerned, I always think the worst. I heard that milk thistle can help with the liver? can it cause bladder flares? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

How high were you liver enzymes? Ive had this happen because of nizarol for yeast, they slowly came down when i took the milk thistle. It does help, get the best quality you can find at the health food store.
I dont recall if it hurt my bladder, i do think it is high in oxalates, you will have to try it and see.

Medications can elevate liver enzymes--but it's good that your doctor is being on the safe side. I've had problems with that on and off through the years and the levels always returned to normal. In 2003, they stayed consistently elevated, so my dr. ordered a liver biopsy and I have NASH. My G.I. dr. is from Poland and they use more herbal meds in his country. I asked him about milk thistle--he said it was helpful to the liver if you take a lot of meds , but it can cause a lot of G.I. upset in some people. Since I have a lot of GI problems, he thought it wasn't a good choice for me. I didn't try it so I don't know how it affects the bladder.

I think it would be a good idea to talk this over with your doctor.

I got my liver ultrasound results back today. they found that my liver was a bit fatty. My GP said it could because my cholestrol is slightly high, so I really have to watch what I eat. also she said it could be genetic. nothing really to worry about.
