Ok to be up front about this, I was NOT on my meds when I saw the following...
I live in the woods and by my house, about 2 miles down, is a bike trail. I have to drive past it to go or come home. So anyway, I had just come from dropping my mom off at work and was coming home. I looked down the trail and there was a man in a horse drawn carriage!!! He was wearing a black top hat and a black outfit...well it was kinda like a suit but the bottom was shorts. It was really old fashioned looking. Fine, okay, maybe for some reason someone in an old fashioned buggy and horse in a top hat like Abe Lincoln's and suit-thingy is riding a bike trail in the middle of nowhere?
Well, I did a double-take, and the 2nd time it was gone! There was no where it could have gone. It's a narrow trail, surrounded by woods and it was maybe 20 feet from me so I could see if it had gone into the brush/woods. It was a gloomy day yesterday, yet the carriage had a glow.
It didn't really freak me out...I used to be the biggest skeptic until the last house we lived in with doors flying open, visual images of people who weren't there standing in our living room in the middle of the night or out kitchen in bright day light. After that house, nothing phases me.
Yep, I probably sound nuts, I'm sure. Just thought it would be fun to swap stories.

Ashley always had a ghost she talked about, actually a lady in her closet. Now Jake has a "friend" he always talks about. there is no doubt my home is haunted..

My dad said that on the day of his uncle's funeral, he and his brother were sitting at the kitchen table in their uncle's home.
At one point dad caught some movement in the corner of his eye and, shocked, saw his recently buried uncle standing at the front hall closet reaching up for something.
When they ran to investigate he was gone but they found some valuables and legal documents up on the shelf, and they think he came back to alert them to that fact.
Another time he (dad) was working as a church custodian and, having been aggravated at the priest not coming over on time to bless the holy water for the next morning (Easter) he put unblessed holy water around in all the fonts in the church.
The next morning all the holy water fonts were filled with thousands of tiny tadpoles. The priest for the first Mass of the morning called my dad at home and he raced over and changed all the water, replacing it with blessed holy water. My mom said when he arrived back home several hours later he was white as a ghost and had to go lie down. Weird, huh?

I truly believe this house that I have moved into with Dom has ghost, not bad ghost just ghost that stand in the hallway alot. My recliner faces the hall and there has been many times I will see a shadow or looks like someone standing there. This is also the house I took many pictures and lots of the pictures had Orbs in them..You can see the pictures on this thread I started..

Oooh love the stories!! There's a picture my sister took of me and my hubby and daughter at our daughter's baptism. Right above my head is a blue orb...I did some research and blue orbs are miracle orbs or something, and that my daughter is!
I don't know what's going on here at my house, but my heating pad keeps turning on by itself. Toys turn on by themselves, too. My husband had to take the batteries out of my girl's Elmo Giggle Chair one morning because it kept going off with nothing touching it and you really have to slam that sucker to make it laugh. He changed the batteries, thinking it was the problem, and even then it still laughed hysterically. So, being creeped out, he took the batteries out. It was crazy.

My ex hubby used to work for a Cracker Barrel in management. I figure it's ok to say the name because I'm making no negative comments, and I LOVE the food.....so, ok. There are those rockers they have, and it's winter time in Minnesota and people like to rock by the fire. After closing, when everyone is gone, my ex would literally SEE ghosts rocking in these rockers every night. They never bothered him , just seemed to watch him go about his closing up duties. It was SO freaky coming from him because this guy has SKEPTIC written all over his forhead!!! He believed it. I do too just from hearing him tell it. Also, it would get REAL cold in there and there would be this icy blast of cold air out of nowhere.......then more rocking.
Shiver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've got one. We used to go walking in the woods in the neighborhood I spent my teenage years in. We found this cool place made out of granite. It's very near Stone Mountain State Park in Stone Mtn Ga....anyway, it was shaped like a moon. So of course we called our cool hangout the moon. One evening we were heading over there, up to no good I'm sure, and there was a cover of a playboy magazine with a stick stuck through the private part of the woman, and droplets of blood all over the pages. This happened a lot!!!
Too long a story but I NEVER went BACK!
I heard more freaky stuff...dead cats, dead dogs, rabbits...............I think someone called the cops and banned the kids from going down there. They were doing animal sacrifices!
Oh, I'm not gonna sleep good now!

I love these stories...
Ok my little cousin Mikey who is 4 see's ghosts and is psychic I swear. One night my cousin joey and his wife carley and mikey were eating dinner and mikey's chair sits looking out the window. During dinner he looks out the window points and goes "mommy look it's Aunt Cindy" Carley goes what are you talking about mikey... aunt cindy is home in florida. He said no mommy she's out the window flying and waving. She looked over and nobody was there. The next day they found out aunt cindy had died the night before. How creepy is that?? he freeks me out
Ok another one... Carley had just gotten pregnant a while ago after about 2 months or so she was hanging out with mikey in her bed and they were talking. He looked at her touched her tummy and said mommy, there's no more baby! She looked at him like he was nuts, and told him yes there is mikey. A week later she found out she miscarried!!!! My own cousin freeks me out!!!! i cant look at him anymore he's creepy.
My best friends mom owns the snack shop in the bowling ally... the bowling ally is supposidly haunted by this lady who likes to sit by the bar and walk around. One night when she was closing she went in the back where the freezer was to get something and she walked into the bar area and this old lady was sitting at the bar drinking and just staring at her. She got freeked out and walked back the the snack shop. Sometimes the bar stools at the snack shop spin for no reason... not slow... but fast. And it gets really cold for no reason. She hates closing by herself. I would too!
That's all I got for ya!

I don't know if this would qualify for a ghost story but a few weeks after my Dad died I was up real late talking on the phone. I looked towards the hallway and I saw my Dad standing there with the most beautiful smile on his face. Of course being a lot younger than I am now it really freaked me out. If it happened to me now I think I would try to talk to him. I will always think it was him way to let me know he was o.k.

Is it weird that my 4 year old cousin Mikey says he talks to jesus everymorning. Not like in a prayer he says Jesus comes and sits on the edge of his bed and talks to him. Freaky much??

I'm glad I'm reading these during the day lol you girls have some creepy stories!!!!!
They say that kids can see things adults can't because they haven't reached the age of reason where logic begins to take over and dictate that they aren't seeing what they are really seeing.
My daughter sometimes will wave to the cieling and sometimes I'll hear her giggling over the baby monitor in the middle of the night. I don't feel creeped out here like I did at my own house, so I think what or whoever is here is maybe a relative since this is a new house built on untouched forest.
At our old house I was terrified to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom...that wasn't all that great because I was getting up a LOT lol. I'd run from my room to the bathroom and back and some nights I slept with the lights on. My bedroom was creepy, it had all these cold spots and you just had an uneasy feeling in it.

When my ex was a boy, he had a paper route. One morning, he was doing his route and rode past a house where a man, Uncle Lum, lived. Uncle Lum had been ill and had not been seen on his porch for some time. (Uncle Lum was not his real Uncle, it was what everyone in this small town called this man.) That morning, Uncle Lum was on his front porch and waved at the ex as he threw the paper. When the ex was finished and back home, he told his mom that he had seen Uncle Lum waving at him and supposed that Uncle Lum was better. That is when my ex MIL told him that Uncle Lum had died the night before.
Sometime later, the ex's family bought and moved into Uncle Lum's house. They all swear that, late at night, they could hear someone going up and down the stairs. Of course, they all said it had to be Uncle Lum. I suspected that it was just a story they were telling me to frighten me, but they all swore they were telling me the truth. :hmm:

I'm all freeked out now....
I think the bank here is haunted. sometimes when I slam the door shut in my office about a few minutes it creeks open. My co-workers call it the boogy man. But today it's happened like 6 times not to mention this one paper keeps mysteriously falling on the floor. It's not slanted on my desk. it's flat on my desk. I just picked it up and put it down went downstairs to talk to my boss and now it's on the floor again! Soooo creepy.

Oh I hesitaited on sharing this because its kind personal so I am not going to say any names, but this is very true...
The land I grew up on use to be an old dairy farm and slaughter house for cows in the early 50s and there had been some pretty freaky stories about the slaughter house, but I was young and never paid much attention to them..And nothing never seemed strange or scary while I was growing up on the land, BUT as soon are family moved off of it for the first time we still owned it though just moved. Is when all the crazy things started happening.
My mom rented it out and this couple moved a trailor on it they lived there for about a year and then the husband left the wife and 2 weeks later shot himself and commited suicide.. The wife sold the trailor and moved away..
My brother moved on the land in a trailor for 4 years everything was fine.
Then he moved and again my mom rented the property and this other couple moved thier trailor on the land, within six months the husband drowned at a water park and 2 months later the wife had shot herself and also died..
Unbelieveable RIGHT! Theres more...
The land was rented again to a single man and he lived in his trailor for 5 years and nothing happened to him, I guess he got lucky..
BUT, Me and my husband needed somewhere to move our trailor and not thinking nothing of past events of the land I was glad my mom offered, I mean heck I was raised there and nothing bad ever happened to me..Right?
Well we lived there for 2 years and even though our relationship was rocky I still didnt think anything about the land.. But things started getting pretty bad so I decided it was time to leave so me and my two kids left they were 7 and 10.. Well within 6 months YES he did!! My husband commited suicide in the trailor on the same land..BUT you would think it was over right.. NOT at all...
All this can be proven:( Freaky huh...
A year went by after my husbands death and my cousin and her family was having a hard time with money and needed a place to live, she called me and ask about buying the trailor.. I was very hesitant..But told her I couldnt ask much and she could just pay me whenever because I knew thier situation..So they were there for about 2 years and her and her husband started fighting pretty bad and she decided she had enough and left, well the next day her brother found her husband laying in the kitchen he also had shot himself..and died the next day...
Now if this land is not haunted then I dont know what is, It has very bad evil spirits or something, There is a graveyard right across the street from it, dont know if that has anything to do with it or not..
But after the last incident , my mom sold the land for hardly nothing and along with the trailor, the lady who bought it rented it for awhile and nobody stayed there for over a month, they all said strange things went on in that trailor, one even said someone would choke him when he went to bed..I road by there a couple of months back its about 2 hours from where I live now..The grass is all grown up and there is a forsale sign on it..I doubt anyone will buy it knowing its history..
Sorry this was long, but like I said its a very very true story.. So do I believe in hauntings.. Darn straight!!!

OMG Ronda!!!!!!! That is so freaky!!!!!!! That's all too much to be a coincidence, you know???? Wow, what a history. There's some benevolence going on there...whoever ends up buying it should have it blessed or exorcised or something...That's really freaky! I am sorry you went through that, also...wow... :grouphug:

Jess, It is very freaky..I don't even like going near there anymore and that is where I spent my childhood, with great memories with my grandmother..It was like as long as my family lived on the land it was fine, but when we would leave it something bad would happen..I do think it needs to be blessed or something..I have thought many times of researching the history of the slaughter house and dairy farm, but always chicken out.. I think thats a job for someone who has no history with the land..lol I had enough!!! Thanks for letting me share it.. I have had alot of people say I should send the story into the TV show True Hauntings< think thats the name and have it investigated. You never know I just might..

Ronda,
You should definitely get that history investigated! I bet it could be done pretty easily through town records or through the library? Maybe even online. You just gotta wonder what happened there to cause such tragedy through the years...

Okay I have to say those are some creepy creepy stories!!!! My Dad told me when he was about 8 years old he lived with his mom, sister and brother in a very old farmhouse. The farmhouse was so old it had stables and a place to park the carriage. Every so often after everyone was asleep my dad would awaken to voices coming from another room. He would also hear footsteps coming from the hall outside his door. He would get up and open his door. Nobody was in the hall. And then he still heard a man and a woman talking in the front room. So he then entered into the front room but no one was there. When he went back to bed the conversation started again in the front room. And he could hear footsteps in the hall again. When he got up and checked again no one was there either in the hall or the front room!!! Weird huh!! And he would tell me about how the lights would turn off and on by themselves.:loco:
At this same house my Dad was playing outside near the carriage house when he saw another little girl about his age. She was standing near the entrance. So my Dad ran over to ask her if she wanted to play. When he got close to her he realized he could see right through her! And then she was gone. Scarey huh!!! :loco:
I dont know if this qualifies as a ghost story and I hope I get it all right (I'll get the main point across anyway) but it happened to my sister and she passed away a couple years ago so I cant ask her the details.. so I'll do my best to get it all right. I SWEAR this is all completely true!
My sister used to have terrible nightmares growing up..I mean freaky scary stuff. Well she was sleeping one night and started to have another nightmare.she was in the middle of the woods in a long white dress and all there was , was a single bed right in the middle of the forest and a wolf with a red rose in it's mouth. she woke up and was a little disturbed by it but went back to sleep. She started having the same nightmarre. she was in the same white dress on the same bed. but floating in the middle of a foggy lake at night. and on the shore was a wolf with a red rose in its mouth. she woke up again. (not sure what she did at this time, freaked out I'm sure) When she went back to sleep she continued the nightmare. This time she was in a room with no windows...no doors.. nothing but the single bed and the wolf with the red rose in its mouth. this time when she woke up she woke up to a LOUD spraying sound .My dad used to have to start his truck manualy with a screw driver under the hood. well... he forgot to put it back in park and when it started it took off... hit the camp trailer...and hit the water main. so water was shooting straight up in the air and we had NO WATER in our house. My sister had to go to the bathroom really bad so she went down to a family friends house to use their bathroom. Our friends were listening to a tape (or recored, this was before CD'S LOL) and as soon as she walked in the words on the song was... " Are you willing to surrender your throat to the wolf with the red rose?" My sister completely forgetting she had to pee ran out of the house freaking out and in tears and told my parents the whole story.
She had MANY scary dreams like thism one but never QUITE like this.

My pap died 03/27/07. I was very close to him and cared for him till he passed. About 1 month ago my daughter came out of her room singing Jesus loves me. She had never knew this song as far as I knew. I asked her where she heard it and she said " Pappy Pete brought his guitar and sat on my bed and taught it to me." My pap was very religous and lived to play guitar at church. God and the guitar was his life. Every once and a while she will say she saw pappy pete today. My hubby said he would talk to her about it if it freaked me out but I told him I was glad she was remembering him because she is only 4 ,3 when he died, and as long as we talk about him she will always remeber him. My house I live in now is haunted, not the new one, all of our pictures fall off the wall at once. I'll come home and all the cabinets are opened. my daughter will not go in her room at night, you have to really slam her door to close it but it will drift open plus it is really cold in their. The other day the rest of our house was 89 degrees. Her room was 65. No ac or fans on. Freaky right, I wouldn't sleep their either
