I have been following the diet pretty strictly for 2 months.

I just went to my first social event and thought i was eating safe food, only to find that the veggies were all marinated in balsamic vinegar. later i found the garlic and butter dip had lemon juice.I freaked. the two worst things i could imagine. Im wondering if eating bad foods actually causes more damage to bladder? will this set me back weeks of following a good diet? although the diet has not improved my symptoms much, i am still hope it is helping it heal.
I have been so cautious, i cant believe i made such a mistake, without asking. I am now in a flare and am wondering what damage i have done. I would appreciate any thoughts, thanks!!

Slipping on the diet shouldn't cause permanent damage. When I accidentally ingest a trigger, if I up my water intake by two or three cups for a day or so, and take several Tums it can help get over the flare.

One thing you might do next time you're invited to a party is to contact the hostess in advance and offer to bring a dish since you have allergies.

I agree--up your water intake, take Tums as needed/prescribed, pyridium if possible, and baking soda (1 tsp/8oz H2O) if allowed. Hopefully your discomfort will dissipate quickly!

Feel better soon!
