Ok yesterday I wasn't feeling my best. I started getting these sharp pains like near my interstines and having the runs (tmi) i know sorry. Last night i was up almost every hour running to the bathroom then today I feel so nauseous. I was just at our morning meeting and had to run to the bathroom b/c i thought i was going to throw up. I didnt but it's so weird. I'm on loestrin 24... i stopped taking it for about 2 months and just started a new pack about 2 weeks ago. I just had my period last week and when i came home from vacation on sunday i was welcomed home by my bf. (if you know what i mean wink wink) he wasnt careful when he finished. Now 2 days later i'm extremly nauseous in the mornings. It's not b/c i'm pregnant right? i highly doubt it but I was wondering how soon after you get pregnant do you experience symptoms and what are they? Any advice would be wondeful. Please help me!

It sounds unlikely that you would be preganat Rachael, since you have been on the pill for 2 weeks. You can always get an early pregnancy test. Good luck!

Not to freak you out, but I THINK you have to be on the pill for a whole month before it is effective. Before you've been on it for a whole month I think you have to use a back up method of birth control. Hopefully someone who's a nurse will chime in. I remember going in a couple weeks after I had Griffin and they wanted me to start the pill again so by the time I was allowed to have sex again I would be covered, so I'm pretty sure you have to take a whole pack before you're safe. I doubt you would feel anything this early though.

I believe it is about 30 days for it to be affective. Jake had a bug, and then I was feeling exactly like you the last couple days.. however I have had a hysterectomy, so I am sure I am not pregnant. To answer your question, pregnancy symptoms usually start around 6 week pregnant or later. my sil is pregers, and she starter getting sick about 7 weeks in. she is now 14 weeks along.

augh lol I think i'm freeking out over nothing. But just to be sure i'm going to get a test on my lunch. It wont hurt to just take a test and put my mind at ease. However will it catch anything at this stage? I think it's too early to tell. I'm like starving but I cant eat alot. Once I do eat I get nauseous again. I just had a few crackers with peanut butter on them. Now I feel gross again. I'm also extremly exausted and dizzy. It's probably just a bug. My bf said not to stress over it and just take a test.

Thanks for the advice, is there any particular brand of pregnancy test I should use??

I would use an early detection brand.

The ickyness could be from having your hormones all wacked out from going on and off the pill. Think that's what got me so sick last month. Everything I've read on the internet-and that's A LOT!!!!-says that morning sickness doesn't start until 4-6wks, usually 6.

When I started the pill my dr told me to use a backup for 3mos!!

Yup its one month before the Pill becomes effective.....and that goes for AB use too. If you're on AB's then during and ONE MONTH after you need to use back up....ugh. (Nearly had a heart attack when i heard that one. For the past 10 years I have not been using backup after using ABs....lucky me :) )

My gut tells me you're prolly just sick from soemthing else...you can always get tested with an OTC test or just call you OB/GYNs office and ask to be tested.

Good Luck! :hi:

I seriously don't think you are pregnant, and even if you are you would not be having symptoms yet. The main reason I say this is because of the pains you were having in your stomach and the diarrhea. That isn't common with early pregnancy. The nausea and vomiting are, yes, but not the diarrhea. Keep yourself hydrated, and quit worrying.

Always have a backup plan for 30 days after changing brands of pills and always use a backup if you use ANY type of antibiotic as they will decrease the effectiveness and you CAN get pregnant that way.

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks everyone.... took a test last night. NOT PREGNANT. Of course... I knew i was worrying for no reason. I think it's just a bug. I came home from work yesterday took the test then passed out on my bed for like 2 hrs. lol Last night i felt so nauseous i didnt eat dinner until 9:30! I made pancakes. yummy... then i felt so sick afterwards like i was going to throw it all up. weird. Not to mention my lower stomach like under my bellybutton is like rock hard and bloated. I dont know what that is. I've been chugging water to stay hydrated but I still have diaherra. Is there something i should take? maybe eccinechia?? spelt that wrong. or should i just ride this one out?? thanks again for all the advice!!!!

MY guess is your not pregnant either but maybe the iron in the BC pills making you feel yucky. Especially just starting out with them again and being on again off again with them.

I had my first pregnancy symptoms two weeks after conception: cramping like I was about to get my period and it didn't come, nausea, heartburn, fatigue.

And FYI--I got pregnant while on the patch (had been on it for about 5 months) so anything's possible, not to scare you.

If it were me, I'd wait till a missed period. The early detection tests can give false readings SOMETIMES--not all the time. I'd wait till a missed period and AccuClear is a good brand. I used it when I was pregnant and the result came up so fast!

Good luck. Hope it's just a bug.

Actually I had bad diarrhea the first week of my pregnancy. It was weird. My OB swore to me that it wasn't from being pregnant but I found a lot of other women online who had the same problem. I have IBS and my hormones seem to effect my bowels the most. I'm normally constipated so it was weird. I also second Accuclear. It was the only test that gave me a positive. Those First Responses are not worth the money. I ended up miscarrying so it's possible my body's reaction was skewed anyway but I just had to throw it out there that I have heard of lots of women having diarrhea when pregnant in the beginning. I was also very nauseated so maybe it was from that? The weird thing is it was always at 4:00 a.m. that I'd wake up with it. Yuck. All this being said, it doesn't sound like you are pregnant and if you were, the symptoms don't usually start so soon. I say usually because I was the lucky one who was sick at 3 1/2 weeks when normally 4 to 6 weeks is when it starts.

Charisse,

Diarrhea with mine was HORRIBLE those first symptoms. I thought I needed to see a GI and when I got that positive it all made sense lol.

Jess your daughter is adorable! Wow so you got pregnant on the patch? I thought that was a pretty strong contraceptive? How old is your daughter now? Were you pretty nauseated throughout your pregnancy too? I have so many existing GI problems that my GI dr told me I should consider adoption for fear I'd end up hospitalized. I didn't listen to him and went ahead and got pregnant but as I said, I lost the baby fairly early. My GI symptoms have actually been a lot better this past year or so but it still scares me now that I have IC and fibro and anxiety and all these issues combined together!

Thanks Charisse! My daughter is 17 months now! Actually, when I got pregnant on Ortho Evra, I ended up miscarrying. My daughter was 5 months old at the time and I was really surprised that I was pregnant. I'd taken an hpt and it was a very faint positive then a few days later I started a really heavy bleed and went to my gyn who confirmed a miscarriage. Well, everything happens for a reason, I was not ready for another!

When I wound up pregnant with my daughter, I was just two months post-op of having my gallbladder removed and I noticed a HUGE jump in GI issues. My surgeon thought maybe he'd left a stone in because I had them going through the duct to the liver, so I made an appt. with a GI because my heartburn was killer, the nausea was awful and I spent all day on the toilet it seemed like! I think it's just hormones going through the roof, but wow, I never thought I'd make it 9 months lol.

I'm sorry about your loss. :( If it helps, my GI issues really eased up and though I did develop acid reflux, my IBS has gone into a remission.
