I had another yeast infection about 2 weeks ago. Took 3 diflucan treatments, saw the dr today and they say the yeast problem is gone and it's the vestivuldynia pain that I'm feeling now. I've never had burning pain this bad in that area and for this long. I tried the lidocaine ointment last night. My dr told me to put some on a cotton ball and just leave it at the opening of the vagina all night. I did this and it was ok during the night, but this morning and all day it has been burning soooo bad, worse than yesterday and the area is very red! A while back I had been using lotrisome cream and that really seemed to help more, it didn't burn like this the next day. But the drs would rather have me use this lidocaine and say it won't hurt as bad the more days I use it. Is this right??? B/c right now I don't ever feel like using it again!! Or maybe I could be having a bad reaction to it?? Any one else have terrible burning pain after using lidocaine that went away after several uses??
Also my other ? was about elavil. I've been on it for about 18 months at 12.5mg at bedtime. I haven't seen a great inprovement in the vulvar pain on it. It makes me very very tired and groggy in the morning. They now would like me to up the dose alittle at a time, but if it hasn't shown any great difference in pain for me would it be worth my time raising my dosage?? I've heard some say that at 25,50 & 75mg they are feeling good and it's taken the pain away. Is this most peoples experience? If so I would be willing to try raising it. Also how long did it take for the pain to go away on elavil??
Thanks!
