While the rest of the world was at work, my boyfriend and I headed to the beach and played in the ocean. It was so nice. I'll probably flare from it later, but it was worth it!
I don't always love living in southern California, but having the beach nearby is definitely a plus.
Anyone else been hitting the beach this summer?

I love the coast and the beach, but the water on the Oregon coast is just too cold for swimming!

Ive never even seen the ocean! I am a born and bred Illinois girl. I went to Biloxi a few years ago, but my fiance says thats not the ocean.
We are going to Vegas for our honeymoon, and plan on taking a day to go to LA to spend some time with a friend of his. My goal is to go swimming in the ocean. I want to get knocked over by a wave.
Glad you had a good time!:woohoo:

I LOVE the ocean. I have always lived within about 2 hours from the beach. I've thought that if I lived further into the center of the country I'd feel claustrophobic because I couldn't get to the ocean.
I've never flared from being in the water. The water in North Carolina, especially in June and July into August is like bath water most of the time - temp wise. Sometimes when storms are brewing it can get a bit dangerous.
When you get knocked down by the wave - don't fight it too much. You can get hurt. Try to get under the real activity of the water.
I was really wanting to get to the ocean this past week. I think it will not be in the cards for me for the rest of the season as I am having my bladder removed next week. But watch out next year!!!
Enjoy!

I'm jealous! I live about 15 minutes from the beach in Santa Cruz, CA but haven't even gone swimming there this summer. I have been to the beach, but not for a full day to lay out and all. I've been houseboating on a lake a couple times though. It's funny, when you live so close you really take it for granted. I still want to make it there though. It just tends to be sunnier at my house because I'm outside the fogline.
I tend to go more when my sister comes down to visit. Her family is all about the beach when they are here.
I went to UCLA for a while so I know Southern CA a little. I love the weather there!
