newbie with questions

I am newly diagnosed and still trying to find out what triggers my flares. The only trigger that I know for certain is sex. My pain starts in the urethra and can cause bladder pressure.

I have read the very helpful info on prep for sex and positions on this website. But I still have some questions...

- For people taking Elmiron and for whom it is effective, are there less pain/flare-ups after sex?

- Why do I have pain with manual stimulation by my spouse? We stay out far away from the urethra, use a lot of KY lubricant, and I do not have PFD or vulva pain

- Besides taking Prosed prior to any sexual activity is there any other product to prevent urethra pain/irritation?

I've used Elmiron for a yr and half now and it's doing great for me.....but I still have pain after sex :( I don't know of any products to use prior to sex....but after sex you might try MSM gel to help with the pain and heal the area again.
