Effects of IC on Sex...?

I have found that since I was diagnosed with IC about 3 months ago and the symptoms have increased, I have difficulties getting as lubricated pre-sex regardless of how turned on I am. Does anyone know if IC affects lubrication? Also, I have found it nearly impossible to come to orgasm during sex, might IC be the reason? Is there any way IC patients can increase their odds of coming to orgasm? This has all left me feeling inadequate and insecure about myself as a sexual partner. I realize IC has no effect on my sexual performance, but I feel abnormal because I have issues that are not faced by most women and I don't want my partner to feel the blame of not being a good enough sexual partner. Any suggestions at all would be so greatly appreciated.

It's not unusual for an ICer to need to use extra lubricant; it's one of the first recommendations usually made.

Also --- medications can have an effect on sexuality so you might want to check the side effects of any you are taking.

What do I have to say about IC and sex...:evilsmile :mad: :rant:
But as the years have passed, I found a good gyn who is willing to let me try just about anything to make it more tolerable and in the past 6 months or so I have had pain free intercourse. A little irritated after, but for the most part, much improved compared to the first couple years. See my sig for meds I take and other treatments I use to make it more tolerable. Took a lot of trial and error, therapy, and relaxation techniques (helps to have a partner who is patient and understands). Best wishes and the best advice I can give is to be patient and be kind to your bladder. :) Meds can affect your ability to orgasm...I just try not to think about that...if I think about it, it REALLY does prevent me from having one, and I am on quite a few meds that could hinder that, but if I try to keep that from popping into my head during, it helps a lot.
