If you need more than a cpl past the recommended dosage you should be looking into other meds.

Hi there,
I havent actually tried Prelief as of yet... im planning a trip to the states to hopefully pick some up. Im just wondering, is it something that will help me be able to eat things like tomatoes again? Or is it more for things such as salad dressing?
I dont know much about it, so any info would be great...
Thanks very much!

Thanks to you both for your replys. I use Prelief a lot when I am eating things that I don't know the acid content. The bottle says to use 2 before each meal and at bed. I find that two does not get the job done, but if I know that I am eating something acidy, like tomatoes, if I double the amount and take four that I am not bothered as much. I e-mailed the Prelief people and they said that there was no ill effects in that, that you could safely take up to 40 a day!! I am just worried about the amount of calicum that I am taking. I am older (58) so I need more anyway, but I do take about 7 to 10 a day when I am eating out. I also bought the power to put in coffee and find that if I use 1/4 tsp in my coffee and use a lot of milk also that I can drink a cup now and then, which is a life saver for me. I don't think that I have IC as bad as some. I don't have the "bend over" pain that some describe, just a "sore" bladder. I can tell if I have eaten something that sets it off, but can bring it under control if I take 1/2 tsp baking soda with water. I have found that if I take the Prelief before eating it helps a lot. I have not had much luck with Dr's yet. I have an appt. in August with a new one and hope for some resolve. The last one I went to put me on a drug for OAB, which I tried to tell him that I have always had but that this was something different, but to no avail, he was NOT listening. I took the drug for a month then quit, it did not good and dried me up EVERYWHERE!!! I have been on the Aloe vera caps, Glusoimine(?), MSM, and Queicertian (not sure of the spelling and I am not home to check). I'm not sure that they are helping, but I know that it takes months for them to kick in. The Prelief does help when I eat regular, I just hope that I am not ODing on the calicum. I have looked on the web to see what the sympthoms of too much calicum are, so I am on the look out. I read the posts and am thankful that I do not have the pain that a lot of people do. I have the usual "old age" stuff, dry eyes, OAB (which I have always had, its a family thing), VV, and a sore bladder. I should not complain, but I do feel as if I am suffering a death of a thousand cuts some days. I have always been disgustingly healthy, knock wood, and am fed up with all of the niggling discomforts. The worst is being unable to sleep all night, what with all of the bathroom visits. That is getting better most nights, if I watch my intake in the evenings. Like I say I am thankful that I don't have it as bad as some. Try the Prelief, it has made my problems a little better and I hope it works for you.

Thank you for sharing your experiences... its so hard sometimes trying new things and hoping they will work... i havent been able to try prelief yet, because i was waiting to go to the states to get it, but maybe I will just order it from the ICN Shop so that i can try it. I would love to eat tomatoes again, al though Im not even sure if I am diet sensitive. Guess I have some ivestigating to do!
Sorry to hear you are having so many concerns with your doctors... I hope that you find one soon who will be more understanding and listen to you better.

Thanks again for your advice,
Take care,

jube

You can also order from the mfg. AkPharma Inc. I just googled Prelief and ordered from them, since it was a lot more expensive to buy at the store. I saved money even with the shipping. I have never checked the prices at the ICN store, when I order on line a bottle of 300 tablets is 24.95, then add 4.60 for shipping, so you can check the prices and see which is lowest. I hope you have some luck. One of the hardest things is giving up the food that we love. Of course I love coffee, tea, citrus fruit, tomatoes, etc. If you experiment you may find some things are OK and some arn't. Good luck.
