Hi all,
I didn't know where to post this. Since I'm still kind of new, I thought I would post it here. I just returned from a week's vacation in the mountains. The drive there was bad, but within a few days my IC was much better. By the time we left I was compltely symptom free for the first time in a long time. I felt so good I started thinking the IC had all been a figment of my imagination or that it went away as mysteriously as it appeared and I was done with it for good.

The logical side of me decided it may have been due to the fact that I was drinking different water (there was tap water at the cabin- I drink local spring water at home)or because of the marsmallow root tea I had just started drinking. I came home and decided, since I felt so good and didn't want to risk a recurrence of symptoms, not to resume drinking my local spring water. Dispite this and my continued drinking of tea, my symptoms returned within 24 hours.

SInce nothing else changed, I've decided my IC must be due to an allergy of some kind. I have had allergies on and off all my life and used to go into anaphalactic(sp) shock they were so bad. For the last ten years my allergies have been great though. I do know that lots of foods not on the "avoid list" are triggers for me. I assumed that was due to a food allergy or sensitivity. I also have to take liquid allergy medicine becuase I can't tolerate the fillers/dyes in traditional allergy medicine. Now I'm thinking I may be allergic to my cats or to something in my gardens etc. I am going to make an appt with an allergist. Have any of you been tested for allergies? Do you know if allergists have ever even heard of IC? Will they think I am crazy if I tell them I think allergies are causing my bladder pain? I remember reading how some of you say your IC symptoms are worse during allergy season. Do antihistimines help? I am already taking 50 mg of hydroxycil(sp). Should I talk to my urologist about upping the dose to 75? Has anyone found allergies to be the source of their IC pain? IF so, do you treat the allergies or the bladder? This is so confusing.

I have to tell you how great it feels to think your IC is completly gone (I was on cloud nine last week) and how bad it is to find out you just had a temporary respite. I'm trying to be thankful for the good week I had- but I'm sorry to say that instead of gratitude for the week of feeling well, I'm pretty discouraged about being back to where I started!

Thanks for any insight you have. You are all so amazingly positive- though I Don't know you- I count you among my blessings!
