I was hoping someone had a good recommendation for a Pain Clinic in the Seattle/Tacoma area??? I've tried 2 diff. ones so far. The first only wanted to do nerve blks--that didn't do anything but cause me more pain. The 2nd didn't even treat pelvic pain and knew nothing about IC but still wanted to treat me. What to do What to do!! I've been in bed for the last few weeks in pain and only sleeping a couple hrs a night---somethings go to be done or I'm going to lose it.

I just started with a new Uro who treats IC---but doesn't treat pain. I've been referred to the pain clinic at St. Joseph hospital in Tacoma. From what I read in the info they sent me you have to attend a few weeks daily sessions from 8-4. I can't do that. I sleep maybe 2-3 hrs a night then a few more during the day. I can't sit, stand or lay for very long periods. I still don't know what I'm going to do. The last (pain clinic) Dr I was seeing told me last month since I wasn't getting better she couldn't help me anymore because she only treats people who have improvement. Can you believe that???? Do you know what I'd do for improvement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I'm not much help. We will be having an IC meeting in a week -- I'm going to ask if anyone else has had any luck.

Angie,
I'm so sorry that you're going through this, I lived Tacoma when I had my first symptoms years ago and I had the worst time finding competent medical care. Especially if you have health care that starts with the initials GH - UGH!!!! They were the absolutely worst. Anyway, that said, email masssagedoula as she's from Olympia and I think sees the docs in Seattle. While she's not a pain patient, she might have a lead on a good clinic as she is a health care professional. Can you tell I've been on these boards way too long?
That said, we moved across the country to a rural area with the most amazing health care (I thought I was in nirvana) and in the last five years it's gotten just as bad as the Pacific Northwest. We can't get or keep primary care docs in rural areas. We need a president who is going to focus on health care because this just can't keep up!

It seems that Drs who understand what ICer's go thru are few and far between. I've talked to quite a few Drs and most of them just want to pass me along to someone else.
My husband wants me to go out of state to one of the "big" IC Drs. I've become so negative about "any" Dr it seems like a waste of time and money. I need an attitude adjustment :)!!!
Sorry to hear your Drs arn't sticking with your nirvana :) You could always move back here!! I haven't been to GH in years. It was so long ago I remember I only had a $5 co-pay. Oh those were the days. :)

Hello fellow NW folks! I wish I could help you out, but I don't know of any providers in WA. I have found a WONDERFUL provider here in Portland, though, so if anyone ever needs this info, please PM me and I will be happy to share it. Best of luck!!
