AZO Test-Positive Result ?

Hi,

I was wondering what you gals think I should do? As I posted last week, I had a UTI and was put on Cipro, then my urine was never cultured (lab didn't get specimen). I gave a new urine (after just finishing Cipro)and lab said NO infection. Well throughout I have had bad frequency. Much worse then before the infection!
Amy (IC friend) suggested AO test strips and I tried it this AM.
My WBC was definately Positive. My Nitrite sort of looked positive/negative (depending on the difference of 30 seconds).

I am going to call my PCP and go back AGAIN this week and leave another urine sample. My question is-what antibiotic would you suggest?
Also, don't most of us ICer's have high red blood cells normally just not white?

I have lots of what 'feels' like a uti and isn't. I'll have pain and frequency and urgency but the tests always come back negative. My dr. puts me on Cipro for 3 days anyway and it always helps! He doesn't know why....and he's an IC specialist in Houston.....but says it's just something that does help. So maybe you don't have a real infection....but just an irritation. How long did you try the Cipro for?

If you had a positive on a home test, you do need to see your doctor. And since you just had a diagnosed infection, your urine should be cultured to determine which antibiotic will be effective.
