Does anyone's symptoms get worse at night? Anyone have anything special that they do to maybe help calm the pain & urgency?

Oh yeah! I think it's because there is enough going on during the day to distract me. When I sit down at night, that's when I notice it the most. Well, that's not totally true, I also tend to notice it first thing in the morning, but after my first pee it usually calms down.
For me...hot baths work...and my favorite thing in the world these days is my heating pad. I also find that if I'm just watching television, I notice it more than when I'm knitting and watching tv, etc. In other words, I keep myself distracted, otherwise I get sucked into the depths pretty easily these days.

Mine is absolutly worse at night. I have an appointment tomorrow and I am going to ask about it. I get zero sleep because of it. The best thing for me lately is to just lie down on my stomach on a heating pad. I could not live without it!

Mine is worse during the day.At night when I finally get to sleep I can go for an hour.I get up about every hour to pee at night.I only sleep about 5 hours total each night.I go every 10 minutes till I finally get to sleep.Im so used to getting up its like sleep walking.Ive been doing this for years.Im ready to explode after that hour of sleep. The longest was an 1 1/2 hours of sleep at a time.I sometimes had to vomit because of all the pressure in the bladder, especially going that 1 1/2 hours stretch.I dont like to stretch it out that long.As soon as the pressure is gone.It feels great again, and Im ready to get back to sleep.Like ive said in the past.If we could somehow give this disease to the enemy he would surrender immediately.Im convinced that there are people out there that just give up and take their lives and you just never hear from them again.Especially on the boards because they are just not around. This is a disease that doesnt play with
its hosts. Its a serious medical condition just waiting for a cure.Everyone here is in the same boat. Some are worse than others.

Yes, it gets worse at night. And especially (for me) the lying down position makes the pain worse. Lying on my side is even worse.
Before I was diagnosed with IC I was really wondering why my symptoms radically got worse at 11 pm and the pain would start getting less at 3 am. Now (after studying the body's chemistry) the reason is clear: your urine gets more acid from 9 pm to 2 am and thus the bladder gets irritated more. I would suggest (at least helps for me) getting the Pascoe-powder for getting your pH down, and NOT eating (but drinking water is ok) after 8 pm. I am a notorious evening snacker and I HATE not eating after 8 pm but it really helps with the pain.
Try to stretch the muscles in your hip, lower back and buttocks (I recommend Rodney Yee's Yoga for Back care from GAIAM). That helps too.
I wish the pain was worse during the day and that I could sleep during the night without medication. But I guess my wishes don't come true.

mine is always worst at night - often ended up in A+E due to pain and constant urge/pressure. Only got officially diagnosed yesterday so all this is new to me but it's a comfort to know I'm not alone with this condition

I don't know if I have IC yet, but whatever it is, it definitely gets worse at night. The frequency gets worse, the urethral stinging gets worse, and my whole lower body feels out of whack. And now I've started to experience nocturia. Lovely.
