Augh I cant help but be emotional today.... I had my echo test done this morning. which was really cool to watch the screen. The nurse didnt say anything about the test. Then she put the holter on me. I'm so embarressed to wear it. I have aboout 7 of those things on my chest and a pack straped to my hip. I look like a terrorist with a bomb strapped to my chest. I had to go home after the dr to change my shirt to try and cover up all the wires and pack. I feel horrible and cant stop crying. all I want to do is be a normal healthy 21 year old. I cant take it anymore... If it's not my bladder it's my heart now. I was up last night around 12 again with tightness and fluttering in my chest again. Figures huh... and I know that with my luck i wont have any problems tnoight and the dr's will tell me it's all in my head. Not that i'm complaining that I want to be sick tonight but only so this stupid machine records what's wrong with my heart. I'm getting my period soon so i'm super emotional and just overwhelmed with all this crap. It's just too much for me to handle sometimes. I've been really good latley and not cried but today I cant help it. Please keep me in your prayers. I get this machine off tomorrow morning. Thank God!

I wore a holter about two months ago now. I wore it from 10:00 AM until bedtime. I even went to my 3 hour night class that night. I know it is uncomfortable to wear but it is worth it to have piece of mind. I wore loose clothing.
I completely understand how you feel but it will be OK.
Let me know what you find out.

how did you shower if you had to wear it for 2 months or 3 days? I'm a clean freek. I have to shower like twice a day so going 24 hours is going to be tough for me. lol I told my bf I dont want him to see me like this. I think it's scary to look at. He said that i'm beautiful no matter what and he doesnt care. He just wants me to get better. He keeps calling me and texting me to check on me. Sooo sweet. Thanks girls I'm trying to keep a positive mindset here.
hugs
p.s. Did they find anything after you had the holer taken off??

I only had to wear it during the time I usually experienced my symptoms so at night I took it off.

Good question... It was not easy.. I would sit in a shallow tub of water and wash very carefully...

Rachel---you are completely worked up over this. I can 'feel' the tension and worry screaming from your typewritten words. You've got to calm down and stop thinking something is terribly wrong with you--worrying isnt going to do anything but make it worse. If its PVC's that you're dealing with worrying will exacerbate those symptoms which will cause you to tense up even more, then you'll end up in a vicious circle.
A Holter monitor is simply just a portable EKG machine. Theres nothing scary about it. Its designed specifically for situations such as your own--so Dr's can see when the heart is beating irregularly and if its being caused by an electrical problem.
Also rest assured that if the echocardiogram showed anything seriuosly wrong with your heart the Dr would have been notified immediately.
These words probably arent any comfort to you, however your post was a bit stressful so I felt the need to reply in hopes of offering you some peace. The chances of you having something seriously wrong with your heart is very low. Even if something does show up, take comfort in knowing that you've followed the correct avenues and have Dr's on top of your situation.
Wishing you much peace, my dear...
Diana
PS--I've had to wear a Holter monitor for 30 days on 2 different occasions so I know what you're dealing with.
(((hugs)))
Hope you find something out soon!
