Well everyone left to g o away for the weekend last night. around 12am this morning i started to get that fluttering in my chest. I was inalot of pain. I took my xanex like the dr pescribed. (.25mg) I called my friend amanda my best friend who just got off work. She came to my house and kept me company as I was crying in pain, I was debating whether to go to the er or not. I called amanda's mom (practically my mom these days) and she said to call my dr office and a dr on call will help me. Apparently noone from that dr office was on call... they had a dr from the office where my mom works. ( hse's a nurse and i used to work there when i was like 15) so i knew the dr... at this point it was 1:30am. He called me within 10 mins and was sleeping on the phone... i muswt have told him my symptoms like 5 times and then he told me to take my pulse, within 15 seconds my hear beated 20times. I dont know if that's normal but my chest was jumping out of my body! the dr told me to take 2 more xanex (basically overdose) and then call and make an appt with a cardiologist later that day. He said there wasnt any need to go to the er. I was livid... I was so upset i called my real mom and cried to her asking what i should do. she said do what thedr said.
I took the 2 xanex's and then amanda wanted to try to take my mind off of my heart so we drove to mcdonalds. Which i was passing out every 2 seconds and hallucinating. We were in the drive though when i put my head down for 2 seconds and then woke up and said "whose dog?!" amanda said what? I said i had a dream i was at the poolhall and there was a dog on the table! she looked at me like i was nuts!\ Then we got our food and i said tell me if this is weird.... that bush thing over there in front of us was just a couger!!! she said rach.,... there is no bush in front of us! i was like ohhh and started laughing,.... (yea it's funny now) on the way home we saw midgits on the side of the streets... meanwhile it was 3 in the morning and there was nobody on the street or roads. i passed out again and then she pulled in my driveways and i woke up and yelled wow that was the fastest ride ever. like boom and we were back! she laughed at me and said do i need to carry you inside? i told her no. and then i went upstairs and passed out.
crazy huh? i have to wait untill monday to make and appt. horrible huh? i hope i'll be ok the rest of the weekend. ttyl

Ugh Rach
That sounds terrible. I can't believe they wouldn't see you in the er and told you to take that much xanex. You should really have someone monitering you if you have to take that much again. Sounds like you had a reaction to that much of the med. What kind of chest pains are you having for sure. It is a stabbing pain? I used to have pains like that in my chest, felt like I was having a heartattack and it would double me up. Sucked so bad, and no dr could ever figure it out-still haven't but atleast I don't have it as much anymore. Have you had your EKG yet?
PS Still no period-taking a test tomorrow morning!!

I would sure go to the ER if this happens any more that just needs to be checked to make sure it is the same pattern everytime so they can better figure it out.

I agee with Leslie; if it happens again, a trip to ER would be appropriate.

I am going to agree with the other gals. even if you end up in er 4 times a day, they need to pay attention on what is going on. I am shocked the dr didn't have you wear a pace maker to beable to see what was going on with your heart.
sending you big hugs.

Rachel...One thing I am confused about with your post is where was the pain? Was is IC pain or was it your heart? If your heart hurts, then you should get to an ER and have it checked.

A normal pulse is 80 to 90 times per minute. If you take it for 15 seconds then you multiply that number by 4 to get what your pulse is for 1 minute. 80 beats is very normal. The pounding could be because you were scared. Sometimes my heart feels like it is going to pound out of my skin but, when I take my pulse, it is normal.

thank you all so much for responding! This whole weekend has been horrible for me.
I just made an appt with a cardiologist to have an holter and echo done tomorrow at 10am. So hopefully that will find out what the problem is. I get this overwhelming feeling of nervous feeling then i get this stabbing feeling in my heart and it flutters. I wanted to kill that dr on thursday night. He wasnt even listening to what i was saying he was sleeping!!! He told me it's nothing to worry about and to take 3 xanex? is he retarded? i should have gone to the er. I'm sorry i didn't. I found out that my aunt and uncle on my dad's side of the family has mitro valve prolapse. Maybe it's genetic? I dont know but it seems like it's getting worse. I felt a little ecky on friday night as well but not enough pain to go to the er. I never know when it's appropriate to go to an er.
I'm just praying that they find out what's wrong with me. I'm scared that when i'm wearing the holter nothing will happen and they're going to tell me it's all in my head. I'm not making this stuff up. I'm really scared. Please pray for me.
Thank you again for your concerns.

They need to do an echo -- I know when I wore the holter monitor everything was FINE!! but its not in your head, let me tell you that. They will find out what is wrong with you, it might take awhile, but if you have a decent cardio, he will take the time and do it right. Keep us in form.
