Just about every time I get groceries the woman at the register will ask me if I need help taking them out to the car. Am I getting that old looking??? Today I only had 3 bags and not completely full either and she asked me that. Gee, maybe I need more layers of make-up on? :bonk:

I work at a grocery store and I ask EVERYONE if they need help. Have to, its my job. What's really bad is when a little old lady with a bunch of bags won't let you help them then a big buff guy with one will go ahead and make you carry out! Makes me soooo angry!!!

Maybe their muscles are full of air? They don't ask everyone in the stores here. There was a woman ahead of me this morning who was maybe 4 years older then me. She didn't ask her but then she was skinny, tanned, blonde hair and looked good. I've seen older people who won't take any help but imagine they want to be independant as long as they can. I know when I went grocery shopping with my mom people would give me dirty looks because she was pushing the cart. She wouldn't let me push the cart and I kept telling her people are thinking I'm forcing you do to do it.

At Safeway they always ask. I think it's store policy.

Where I shop they always ask too unless I'm only picking up a couple of things.

They only ask me if I have more than 3 bags of groceries. (they even ask if I have my son with me (and he works in the store that I shop! then they realize that he is my son and the cashier or bagger will say "oh no, she has her own carry out person! and they we all laugh" but then I tell them but I have to tip him- but they tell me its against policy to tip so don't let us know about it though!)
