quick question about ic

I was diagnosed last october. IC just came on suddenly and it is only like a 3 or 4 on my scale in my life on a scale of 1-10, but I do have a question, I take elmiron and have been since february my prescription is for 3x a day, but after like 6-8 weeks of taking it, I have slowly tried to wean myself to 1x a day. My question if I NEVER if RARELY have problems throughout the day. It is only when I have to go to the bathroom, and sometimes if I hold it to long then after I go it will burn down there until I sit in a hot bath or it sometimes goes away after like 20-30 minutes. You can imagine if I am out like at the movies and I go to the bathroom and it starts burning, no bathtub around :(. Anyways, recently I have just took a second pill and it has gone away almost instantly. Weird I know, anyone have any answers. This also happened when I took 2 pills and even three, it actually has been happening less frequently. If anyone has any questions I will get back to them. I do want to figure out what the heck is wrong.

IC has really messed up my life, no kids and newly married :( It does sometimes start hurting after sex also, hhhmmm

Oh yeah and 1 more thing I know that it is NOT a bladder infection if anyone says that, this has been happening for way to long. And plus I have my own test strips at home. So thats not the case.

If the elmiron is helping, my suggestion would be to continue to take the full dosage. It can take six months or more to have any effect so it's awfully soon to be tapering off.

If you are holding your urine the it can become to acidy and this could be causing the burning.. I would suggest to drink more water to dilute your urine..

I agree with Donna. If the elmiron is helping, why taper off so early?
