Hey guys. I've been taking elmiron for about 5 months now and I'm feeling so much better. I know I've discussed with some of you on this board before that I still get cramping in my bladder when I finish urinating. It's the worse. Sometimes when I go I lean forward so I don't feel the pressure as much. I have a follow up visit with my uro next month. I know I don't have an infection, I went to the doctor a few weeks ago and nothing was found in my urine culture that was sent out. I'm feeling fine besides that, it's just the terrible cramping, some days worse than others. And I try to follow the diet. Does the cramping ever go away fully? Just wondering if anyone has had full relief of all their symptoms. Thanks.

Hi Shannon,
I was wondering if your doctor had given you antispasm meds? there are a few different ones, I take urised, they are better for long term use. I take on every day if I don't my bladder pain jumps up the scale quickly.
Alos maybe the heating pad, or ice back, even a hot bath.

I have lots of days when I don't have any spasms at all.

Hopefully you soon will too.

Donna

Back in the very beginning of this mess, the Physician's Assistant gave me some samples of something, I don't know if they were for spasms but they didn't do anything, made me feel like I had to go more. I will note the medication you are taking and mention it to my uro when I go next month. Thanks:)

Hi! I think I may have the same thing. I am having a flare after about a year of being pain free. This flare is different for me and it is starting to worry me. I have the usual burning and now I have cramping and a lot of pressure in my bladder/ovaries area. Its not PMS or anything menstrual so I am kind of wondering what to do....Is this a normal symptom of IC?

sounds like a flair or a bladder infection. Give your doctor a call and see if you can come in and have it checked out.

Shannon,
I was in remission for awhile and I was pretty much symptom free most of the time, so yes, the cramping can go away. Those who do well on elmiron find that they feel better and better over time.

Sara,
Yes, sounds like it could be an ic flare. Sorry! Have you been checked for a uti just to rule it out? Whenever I start to flare, I go right back to the ic diet and follow it strictly. Tums can also help with that burning.
