some of us, work hard and get bad pay, I nearly fell over reading this.

Auburn Hills, MI -- (Sports Network) - Detroit Pistons guard Chauncey Billups reportedly agreed to a five-year, $60.5 million contract, with the fifth year a team option, on Friday.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the deal, which is the most lucrative for any Piston, cannot be made official until Wednesday when free agents can sign new deals.

Billups had opted out of his contract on June 25, making himself one of the top unrestricted free agents on the open market. He was in the final year of his six-year deal and was slated to make over $6 million in 2007-08.

Billups joined a free agent class that was short on standout point guards, meaning that he was in line for a big payday.

Originally the third overall pick in the 1997 NBA Draft by Boston, Billups has averaged 14.5 points and 5.3 assists with the Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons.

He has found a home over the last five seasons in Detroit, guiding a Pistons team that has turned into perennial playoff contenders and won it all in 2004.

That is definitely ridiculous. Good grief! If Donna finds a school to teach people how to be pro athletes, I'm going there, too! I'd be happy with a $600K contract a year! :)

All I want is $1million for my little school. We'd invest it and use the interest for tuition assistance for the poor children in the neighborhood. That's all I want. What do people do with all that money? Having never in my life had that much money, I'd probably make a mess of it.
I'm with Donna. Maybe we wouldn't even have to be real good athletes. Would people pay to watch old ladies play? It could be very entertaining!
My other soap box is that a teacher got these guys where they are and do the teachers get paid anywhere near that???????
Do they get anywhere near the noteriety??????
Do the teachers deserve it - you bet they do!!!

Hey, I'm with Donna, all I want to do is be able to live comfortable in my old age -- not that old yet but still, it scares me to think what will happen to us all, we have hardly no savings due to my and my husband health problems. We are in debt up to our eyeballs with no end in site. $60 million?? All I want like I said, is to pay off all of my credit cards which really isn't much, pay off the house, car, med.bills, etc and when I'm eligible to retire in 5 years be able to do that without fear of losing everything.
