RATS! I was set to make a trip to Salt Lake City to visit a good friend of mine. Took a lot of work to get the instillation medicines prescription labelled, get a doctor's letter of medical necessity to carry them on board the plane. Got a letter from the doctor to be able to carry bottled water on the plane (all they have is Dasani, which causes me to flare). Made arrangements to get to/from the airport, board the cat at the kennel. Bought a gift for their toddler, bought a gift for the upcoming baby. Was really looking forward to the weekend with my friend, who I see once every few years.

And then got a call this morning that their two year old has a runny nose & "wet cough". Which for most people would be no big deal, but since I'm allergic to all oral antibiotics except Macrobid, which won't work on respiratory infections, I don't want to risk it. And since he just came down with it this morning, can't tell yet if it's just a cold or if it's going to be more than that.

Dang it! Everyone else can get a cold, pop an aspirin & a Sudafed & they're ok. I can't take a darn thing if I get sick (pretty much everything flares my sensitive bladder, even the extra fluids for colds) & the doctor warned me last time that if I catch something that needs antibiotics, I'll have to be hospitalized for antibiotics by IV. And that's scary too, because maybe I'll be allergic to that as well, we just don't know.

So, I canceled the trip. I'm disappointed. And a little worried my friends won't understand... My friend says she understands, but honestly, most of my trouble with friends & their children is not my friends, but their husbands because they don't know the extent of my health problems & just think I'm high maintenance.

But too bad.
So, I left them a message on their answering machine & I'm just going to make the best of staying home. We're having a heat wave here, so I'm going to run my errands & then stay home indoors for the weekend. (I just bought a portable air conditioner, so it's more or less ok in the apt!)

Kadi; Sorry you had to cancell your trip! But I do understand. I'm sure your friend does too.
I heard you are having a heat wave; I still have family/friends out in Calif. My Grandparents live in Hesperia I called them the 4th to see how they were holding up they said besides being 109 degrees they were ok. I also have friends who live in Loma Linda they said the same thing. (I lived in Rialto- near San Bernadino about 28 years ago-was born in Pasadena; come and visit family every once in 5 years or so.)
Right now we are getting flooded out here - having a lot of rain been raining on and off for almost a month hopefully it will stop sometime this weekend as my lawn is very green which is nice for July, but the grass and weeds are grown and needs to be CUT!! The weather besides the rain, the highs are in the 80's to 90's which is not too bad for this time of the year. Really hate to see it in August though. Try to keep cool by sitting in front of the cooler. Thinking of you and all the others out there.
