I had my first instillation today. The sodium bicarbonate/antibiotic/Novocaine/steroid one. Last time, they couldn't pass a catheter because I was clinching, but this time they treated me with novocaine first, then passed it through. I was told I have a tiny urethra. Lovely.

I also have lots of blood and leukocytes in my urine, so I'm on cipro and lortabs again.

From everything I'm reading, IC has nothing to do with your kidneys? Is this correct? So, I really have no answers for my frequent kidney infections and kidney damage, right? IC is another problem in and of itself.

I'm frustrated and tired and am sick of looking for answers.

Dont apologize... this site is a blessing for those of us who need to vent. Sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time. I actually dont have an answer for your kidney concerns, as I am new to the IC world, but I just wanted to lend my support...
Hopefully one of the lovely ladies & gents on the site will be able to answer your questions quickly.
Hopefully your doctors will be able to find a treatment that will work best for you in the near future.

Have you had an ultra sound of your kidneys to find out what is going on? If not, you could ask for one.

(I've just found out I have loads of kidney stones, after 3 years of going to uros)

I had a renal ultrasound the last time I was hospitalized for dehydration due to kidney infection (October of last year). My right kidney is damaged due to recurrent, long-term infections, but noone ever explained to me what I can do to prevent further kidney damage, etc.
