I have astroglide and Very Private (bought from the ICN store). My husband and I have not used lubrication the last 5-10 times we have had sex and I have been fine. I was just wondering though if we need to use it if it will do anything to the sperm. This might be a silly question, but I think I read something where it might be harder to get pregnant with this and I was not for sure. Thanks.

I don't think there are any that will hurt sperm...have you checked the website http://www.fertilityfriend.com ? There is a lot of info there on TTC. If you need any fertility suggestions PM me, hubby and I tried everything short of standing on our heads! Well there was that one time...j/k :lmao:
Good luck!

This is one of those "it depends" things. I'm not totally sure about Astroglide or the Very Private line from the shop but I know that normal KY is not considered "sperm friendly."
That being said, many people get pregnant while using it because although it isn't "friendly," it isn't a spermicide either. If you try for a while with out success, hubby's count is low, or something like that, you may want to look more closely at the lube issue (if you are using it).
If hubby's numbers are normal, it's shouldn't be a problem... but it can exaserbate an existing/marginal issue. There is one sperm friendly product on the market call "pre-seed" but it's pretty expensive. Just what we need - an excuse to spend more $$! It's supposed to be the right pH, viscosity, and chemical environment to mimic healthy cervical fluid or something.
It's probably easier to avoid using lube and just take lots of time "warming up." ;)
Good luck! I hope it all works out for you guys!

Thanks. I am going to go to the fertility website. I will also ask my gyno about it on Thursday. Thanks, wish me luck on the baby making process :)

Just wanted to mention that there is a specific lubricant available for couples TTC...I believe it's called 'precede' (sp?) and it supposed to mimic the vaginal secretions you produce while ovulating that provides for best sperm motility. Unfortunately, I can't say if it would be an IC irritant. My husband and I got pregnant while using vegetable oil as a lubricant as suggested by my physical therapist. It's the only lubricant that doesn't make me itch and burn after using it. Olive oil can be used, too, but it is known to have spermicidal tendencies.

Do you just use regular vegetable oil that you would cook with? Do I just put it on him? He will freak on this one!

Yup...just regular vegetable oil, like Wesson or the like. He puts it on just like he would KY or whatnot. I can't specify enough, however, that you should have a towel handy for cleanup and have one to protect bedding. You don't want this stuff on the sheets. But, I must say that it is incredibly smooth, long lasting, and I certainly had no troubles after using it. We dumped out or little bottle of lube and filled it with cooking oil!
Even though this was suggested to me by a doctor I do have to say you should ask yours before trying it. But I must say that the hubby and I simply love it!

They "say" no lubricant, but many have gotten prego with stuff. I use astroglide, but when trying to get prego we used this stuff called Proseed, which is supposed to be sperm friendly, well, who knows if it is what did it, but got prego and baby due in Nov. Good Luck.
