He got it on Monday last week--the first day it was fun. He's actually doing very well--beyond what I expected. He's always so much talk and very sure of himself. I told him he doesn't know everything about driving a car. Well looks like he was right--he does. He's struggling with the blinker (he forgets to turn it on) and we're finally not hugging the curb anymore. I love to let him drive unless I'm having a bad day--when I don't feel well I share my pain :) I do not have the patience to sit there while he's going exactly the speed limit and slow down so much to make a turn. I know it's only been a week and he is doing so good. We have at least 10 hrs of drive time in already. Where do I find the patience to cont. being a good mom who takes her son out to drive and waste tons of gas? Dad's turn. :smile tee

Angie,

I am glad your son is doing well! I dread the day--thought it is a long ways away--that my daughter gets her license LOL. Especially if her dad teaches her...between you, me, and the boards...I white knuckle it when he's driving. :lmao:

Reminds me of my oldest son (now middle aged) --- When he was 15 and I was driving him to what felt like the millionth place in a week, he commented, "Won't you be glad when I learn to drive; then all you'll have to do is stay at home wondering how bad I'll be hurt when the hospital calls." He actually turned out to be a very good driver.

I still have to laugh when I remember that one!

Just think when he is all "trained" and you can just throw the keys and and send him for milk and bread and not have to get up from the comfy couch. Good luck with the driving classes mom & dad

I always begged to drive when I had my permit. Now I'm begging someone to drive FOR me!!:)

Hope Dad has his turn soon so you can take a break......

Its great to have kids driivng, especially when you live out in the country and the the store is about 15 miles from home (most times, of course, i get things on the way home from work but there are exceptions; lots of times we will wait till the next night as they learned a long time ago that they need to let me know before I get home that we need this or that, but sometimes we just can't do without and thats when I just toss the keys to them and say go.... and hope they come back soon.
