Hi there. Wondering if caffeine is a trigger for most. I am having a hard time determining if its a problem for me. I don't know if its the caffeine or the acidity of coffee that is a problem. I'm thinking about trying low caff low acid coffee. Thank you for any replies.:smile tee

I have a hard time figuring that out too. It does definitely make me urinate more--it is a diuretic, after all--but it doesn't really cause pain, just frequency. I do know that too much of it puts me in a flare, but it doesn't bother me much if I have it occasionally.

yes, for many people, caffeine is a trigger. i ordered the uroroast coffee from the IC shop. It is very good and doesn't cause me to flare. it does have caffeine in the kind i ordered. i need a morning jolt:)
i cannot have any teas, soda, anything else w/caffeine.
Good luck, hope that helps!
Yes, caffeine is a problem for me. I drink Puroast Decaf House Blend Coffee made in the Toddy Maker (reduces acidity even further), then mixed with milk. (Puroast & Toddy Maker available in the ICN shop linked at the top of the page).

For me caffeine is the big trigger for about two hours of peeing every 20 minutes. Acid does not seem to bother me, I can drink lemonade and not have a problem, but caffeine acts like a super diuretic for me.

Caffeine (and all coffee or tea) was the hardest thing for me to give up!!! I miss it every day. But I think it was the one of the best things for IC I have done.
I have tried the low acid brands, but they, even with half rice milk, caused flare ups and pain.
I wish it were different, but that's my story, and "I'm sticking to it!"

Caffeine itself is not a problem except that it is a diuretic which gives me MAJOR problems. My frequency shoots through the roof when I have caffeine and the urgency is equally worse with caffine.
Good luck!

As long as I have no more than a cup or 2, than its not a problem, but anymore than that, than I have a lot of frequency; so I limit myself to 2 cups in the morning- one at home which is decaf and I usually on drink a half of cup and the other is regular and most time I drink the whole cup. Other than that I usually drink water during the day.
