After I was dxd I started with instills. It didn't really hurt much just a quick pinch when they inserted the cath. I couldn't really hold the medicine in for a long time. The next day I would still be in pain so I stoped doing them. I'm on oral Elmiron now. I really hope they work for you. Alot of people have had alot of success with instills. It's all about finding the right combination of medicines that work for you. Everyone's different. Just remember that the process can be very frustrating but we are all here to listen and give any advice we can. Good luck sweetheart.

Hello and :welcome:
You said they think you might have IC and they are already doing bladder instills? Thats kind of drastic to not know your dg for sure.. I would ask more questions and if they can not provide answers. I would get a second opinion.

Traci,
I would tell them you would perfer to have a dx before you start such a harsh treatment on your bladder that may not need treatment. Ask him/her if he will schedule you a hydro/cysto under sedation at the hospital first.
Good luck.

Most definitely pursue dx before treatment of this type. While instillations do help a lot of people - I wouldn't do them without knowing I had IC - why go through the discomfort.
Please make sure they try to determine exactly what is wrong with you first.
