This is CRAZY!!!!! Two weeks ago I was in Bermuda. We went on a 2 hour yacht cruise. When I got off the boat, I was still experiencing a rocking and swaying sensation. This is not unusual for me. I experienced this 10 years ago after a 7 day cruise for about 3-4 days. This time, it is not going away! I saw my family doctor last week and he gave me a patch to wear behind me ear...it has done nothing! Has anyone else ever experienced this?????

The weird thing is that my bladder symptoms went from being pretty bad during our vacation to almost non-existent the day after we got home (almost a year to the day my symptoms started). Maybe this is a trade-off......feeling like I'm bobbing and dizzy in exchange for feeling like I gotta pee every 10 minutes...AAHHHH.....what is worse?

Thanks for listening!

Dawn,

I am so sorry you are not feeling well! Vertigo/Dizzyness is so scary. i really hope you find out what is causing this. Have you had any scans done yet? What exactly does your DR attribute the symptoms to?

Hugs,

You might ask your doctor if it's possible you have a mild case of labrynthitis.

It's not serious, but is uncomfortable.

I have a condition called benign positional vertigo (BPV). The symptoms of dizzyness at first occurred off and on all day, but since I've been diagnosed I'm able to control them to some extent. My doctor thinks there's some type of small calcification or something in one ear that is the cause. How I hold my head can affect the symptoms. I can't put my head back too far or I feel like I'm going to pass out. I've learned my limitations and have made adjustments, so it doesn't really affect my day-to-day activities anymore.

I hope your doctor is able to find a solution for you. I know how awful your symptoms can be.

I don't have much to offer other than to say that you are not alone. I actually saw a news report on this condition a few months ago. Two women got back from a cruise and couldn't get rid of the rocking and swaying sensation. They were going through testing to see it their doctors could come up with more answers. Good luck!

I have had the same thing since Easter , Was on a exercise machine called power plates that shook the whole body .Ever since i've been dizzy like I'm druck & rinnging in the ears . I'm now waiting to have a balance test on July 31 st in the hospital .The doc has perscribed for me a drug called Serc taken 3 times a day .It does seem to help. I just hope they can find out the root of it as it's driving me nuts !

Do you know if the patch he gave you was the scopolamine patch? It's possible it's helping the bladder symptoms somewhat.

My husband & I are cruise-a-holics. I've done 17 now. Literally every cruise, I go through the same thing as you. Sometimes, it takes weeks before the rocking stops. My PMD has prescribed Meclizine and it helps tremendously for me. I start taking it the day before we leave and continue for about 2 weeks after we return.

I remember after 1 particular cruise, the rocking was so bad afterwards, I got dizzy when I went to bed for the night. I felt like I was rolling off the bed. I had to sleep in a half sitting position. It wasn't continous. I would be fine for a while, then all of a sudden feel like I was rocking again. It just wouldn't go away. I was diagnosed with Labryithitis that time and I did use the Transderm patch with good results but, it took a while.

The medical term for this is "mal de debarquement syndrome".

Hang in there. Hope you're feeling better soon.
