I am having the worst allegies right now and i haven't been taking anything for them because I'm afraid I can't take it with my medication. Im on elmiron 3 x a day and I know i can't take tylenol or anything like that. Does anyone know of anything that's safe to take with allergies. Is benedryl ok?

The best thing to do is call your pharmacy and to them and see if they will check for any drug interactions or call you dr and see if he will prescribed you something and tell him what meds you are on now.. Good luck:angel:

Definitely talk to your doctor! A lot of doctors prescribe an anti-histamine as part of the treatment for IC, anyway. I know I have a prescription anti-histamine along with elmiron, but you need to check with your doctor before you choose one for yourself.

Meanwhile, saline nasal sprays can help your allergy symptoms, or you could try some IC friendly herbal teas. But I'd call the doctor very soon, if I were you, I know how miserable my allergies make me! Good luck.

If you read the patient handbook you will see lots of drs prescribe Elmiron and Atarax (an antihistamine together).

I can tel you that Atarax is a Godsend for me. It not only helps me sleep at night it has helped my allergies tremendously. I have terrible allergies year round, but summer is always worse. It is a miracle drug. This is the first time I can remember having a dry nose!!! Definately ask your doctor about that! You may be groggy for a couple of days at first (I was) or maybe longer... but your body learns to tolerate it.
