I just had an in office cystoscopy yesterday and my urologist irrigated the bladder as well. Everything was normal looking and she said I probably have IC. Well last nite and this morning I'm sore in my pelvic area which I expected would happen, but this morning I have some vaginal spotting that I do not believe is coming from my urethra. Is this normal? I've had a recent pelvic ultrasound and transvaginal ultrasound and everything is normal there. Could my vaginal/uterine area just have gotten irritated from the procedure? Also I'm passing gas through that area too.

It's more likely that the spotting is from the urethra. The passing of air sometimes happens when fluid is put in the bladder --- it's not unusual for a bit of air to make its way there with the fluid.

This may be common after such a procedure but you should contact your doctor with your concerns.
I hope you feel better soon and get some answers.

Well I had my cysto last week and I also was diagnosed with IC. I had blood all over when I got home and it was def vaginal blood. I am still spotting this week, too. This was exactly one week after I had gotten my normal period....the only thing is that I do normally have some irregularity w/my period but I do think that the cysto is stressful and can cause spotting. JMO.

Yes I'm convinced my spotting was vaginal as well, especially since my period was late this month (which will happen if say I get break through bleeding in the middle of the month). Also when I had the spotting it was brownish in color not bright red like I would imagine it would be if it were coming from bladder or urethra?
The cramps I experienced after the procedure though I am quite sure were bladder cramps unless somehow it irritated the uterus. It kind of felt like menstrual cramps, but from what I hear on this site that bladder cramps feel alot like displaced menstrual cramps.
