I'm so depressed. After waiting 7 months I was turned down for S.S. D. I'm going to see a doctor at the Pain Clinc for the first time on Monday. Then on Tuesday I have an app't with an attorney. I tossed and turned so last night that my pain got me up at 7am. I've already started my day with a percocet. Right and I'm suppose to drive to a job this way. I really wish one of "those" disability people would walk in our shoes for a day. I mean how would they like to ache all day long? And how about the trips to the bathroom. Sorry--I'm venting. It's just too frustrating for me. I've worked for almost 30 years and now when I need help it's tough luck? Hey everyone, thanks for being there and listening.
Sad in Georgia.

I am so sad for you. Did you use all the information from the ICA? I used that and I really think it helped. I talked to my uro's nurse last week and told her I had been approved and she said "well, I wrote a heck of a letter to them." When you are denied, do they say why? Don't give up, I will pray for you.

years!I also got turned down- banghead
It has been a long road for me too and at this time I still haven't got anything from SS- but I got my letter from Judge in Jan saying I was approved and I called to the SS office and finally I talked to my worker today and said my check should start in the second week in March.I am hoping for some Back Pay !!!! eek But believe me I know how you feel and the waiting has been long ...but hopfully the wait will be well worth it! angel hugs for you and prayers. grouphug love Brenda

Thanks all for your replys and caring thoughts. I saw an attorney today and he is going to start the appeal process. I think I was turned down because my uro said I might improve next years. Well, that was a big mistake. He's going to write a new letter stressing how much worse I am and that this is permenent. But as you all know it could take another 90 days for a reply and then if I get turned down again, then it could take up to a year for a court date. I did not know that the first 5 months after you leave you're job you do not get reimbursed for. Well, that stinks! So it sounds like I have a long, hellish road a head of me.
I sure hope you all are having a good day.

Marcy,
One thing that you might mention in your appeal to SS and it was one of the things that I used is that you have to take narcotic pain medications to be half way functional and it is illegal to drive under the influence of narcotic pain meds, so how are you supposed to get to work? It is something that I didnt think of until after I got denied and was working on the appeal but if you think about it - it is absolutely right. Dont give up! Also, if you havent bought it yet, you can get the Nolo's Guide to SS Disability from this web site and it will be worth every penny of money you spend on it. I did my own case without an attorney thanks to that book, got denied, appealed and got my first check in 7 months. Susan

I agree don't give up it took me two years to get mine and a lawyer but that was before i knew about the ICA or the ICN. i sure wish i had knew about it before I had to hire a lawyer he got over 4000.00 out of my check and another 1500.00 out of pocket exp. leaveing me 10,000.00 after two years. :( sending you hugs and prayers. never give up hope.

This whole disability process is so frustrating! I am just getting started, and it's so hard! When you already feel so bad,and to deal with all the paperwork. My Uro nurse and doctor are great, but my nurse keeps saying I would feel better if I got out and worked, soooo,I think getting a letter from their office that will help is not going to be easy. We will all just keep praying and hanging in there.
It is soooooooooooo important that you get hand written letters from EVERYone of your dr's. And, have him give it to YOU so you can copy it and send one and have one to keep. STRESS the meds you are on and the side effects you suffer from them....my neurontin messes with my vision. I listed that. Once I've taken a B & O suppository, I won't drive because that also messes with my vision. I got ALL of my records from all of my dr's and hospitals and I send them all to SS. I didn't rely on my dr's or hospitals to do it, I did it myself, that way, I knew it was done.
It took so much time but I was so glad that I did it. I was denied the first time around and approved the 2nd time. I didn't need an attorney. I didn't want to share my check with him. It was a very nice check and at 50 I had never had my own bedroom furniture and I bought it and it felt sooooooooooo good!!!!!
I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it, they don't pay me near enough for how bad I feel:mad:
Wishing you the very best of luck~

Did you use all the information from the ICA
Would someone tell me where this information is on the forum. I am going to sign up again after 2 more yrs. I was turned down and never went back to get it again. I figured why bother. But I am going to try again. I know I can never work again.
Thanks

i really don't know that much. i did go to an attorney first and she told me i would have to file myself first, then if it was denied she would see what she could do. also said that ic alone is not enough of a disability to win a case. that's all the info i have.my phone interview with ss is next week.good luck and i will be praying for us all.

:hi: moelissat, there is lawyers in ga that take it from start to finish. because i lived there before i moved to sc. and i had called them before. just keep calling around ok. but it also is a comany a lady on the site told me about allsup. that's who i will use if i get tured down. but they do do it from the start also. check on it . let me know. they get 25%+. but i here storys about some bad lawyers. allsup i think are not lawyers.but do know what to do . i went for it myself because i have other medical problems with the ic. did't want to give away my money if i din't have to. your age matters also. the older the better. feel free to ask me any questions. i will answer what i can ok. blueblondie1121
