My Uro-GYN said Benadryl is just as good as Atarax however the articles on this board seem to indicate that Atarax is the only drug that inhibits mast cells. I tried googling some info and what I found was that mast cells contain histamine which the Benadryl will kill but Atarax kills the whole mast cell which may contain other things besides histamine. Does anyone know if this is true? I was taking 25 mg of Atarax but it was making me feel so drugged the next day. Benadryl does not do that to me but I'm going to switch back to Atarax for awhile and see if it helps my bladder more.
