Hi all,
I am in the mother of all flares again and I suspect a UTI (getting checked this week) and today my pants were a little tight. So I think it's the IC bloat (which I think I caught from Cindy through our ICESP LOL). What do you do to get it to go down or get rid of it??????? I am in so much pain...I feel like ripping my bladder out and throwing it out the window!

Sometimes it seems like poking it with a BIG needle would make us fly to uncharted territory and it could be quite interesting;)

Dear Jessica,
I am so sorry that you are having a flare. I know the IC bloat feeling.
Every time when I had a flare, I had no idea what caused it. It might be the tight clothes, food, stress, weather..... IC is such unpredictable. When I was in flare, I asked the Lord to give me enough patience to go through the horrible time. You know you will be better soon. The whole IC thing really teaches me a big lesson. To be grateful and live at the moment when I feel good. To be humble, quiet and patient when I feel bad.
I will say a prayer for you. Ask God to give you the strength. angel
Sorry you are flaring again. One thing I do that helps me a lot are those stick on heat pads. Those things have helped me so much. Hope you are doing better soon. grouphug

Hi All,
I guess we all are in the same boat with IC bloat (rhyming here)
SEems like we all have the same thing and no solution to get rid of it.. I have become the sweats queen.... no matter how big my clothes are thay all seem to be just to darn tight... Even my panties seem to huet me... Thought about just going out and getting a bunch of them long dresses and forgetting about wearing pants...
hugs

About the bloat, for me sometimes the big tummy is really bloat, sometimes it's constipation. More water (in small amounts 1/4-1/2 cup, each hour) and pears at least 3-4 times a week are the best solution for that for me (although every doctor I've seen in the last year offers me Colace, but I can never predict when that stuff will decide to work, unfortunately last time was in the middle of a brilliant lesson I was teaching my high school students & I lost the rest of the class period on the can :toilet:)
About the bloat, I do now own quite a collection of long dresses & skirts with boots or sandals to go with so I don't have to wear stockings. For some weird reason even the thigh highs can be irritating, maybe some nerve??
Anyhow, hope something helps. The kids & my coworkers at school now think the long skirt thing is just my style, a few have commented that it's cool. (Glad they think so, I miss my jeans!!)
Okay, now see the value in previewing the post, did not mean to have a happy face next to the toilet!!! But you guys already knew that!

I really like Gas-X pills - the ones in the green gel pill. However, I have heard it cause problems with some other ICers. Sometimes I drink peppermint tea too and that helps me with the bloating.
Good luck,

I wish I new something to make it better. I get the bloat too, especially when I am flaring or have a UTI. It hurts to wear panties or anything that rubs on my stomach.
When I feel that bad, I just really watch my diet, keep hydrated with water, and take a pain pill. A warm shower sometimes helps too.
I'm sorry you are hurting so bad. It's a good idea to check for a UTI, especially if you seem to get them a lot.
Take care,
Nicole

I'm just at the tail end of a flare. My abdomen swelled up so badly that if felt like it would explode! I looked 4 or 5 months pregnant. I called the doc finally. He said for a few days I could double my dose of my anti-inflammatory, Bextra. I have to take extra stuff to protect my stomach, but the extra Bextra (hey, it rhymes!) has really helped the pain and the swelling/bloating. If it helped me, maybe it will help someone else.
