Is there a medication that can stop by urgency and incontinence? I mean like last night after having 1 drink I had to pee so bad I "miss" making it by a tiny bit. How embarrassing....then again when I got home. It is getting worse now.

I don't know about the Incontenence; but for urgency/frequency-my PCP put me on Vesicare which comes in 5 & 10 mg. it really works- of course you have to be on it continously like everything else-unless it doesn't work for you. But I really felt a diffence in less than a week. Might want to ask, as I tried a few others which I couldn't tolerate or didn't work and this did. Good luck.

HI! First off, if you are drinking alcohol you are asking for a major flare. Alcohol and IC doesn't mix at all!
Prescription Elavil helps with frequency and urgency. Ditropan, Detrol or Vesicare that Mary mentioned help with incontinence (it dries out your bladder....and your eyes) but does help.
For quick pain relief you can try Azo or any of the others that are similar and you can buy those at local pharmacies.
Are you following the IC diet? That helps tremendously. Hope this helps.....Roxie

Non-prescription CYSTOPROTEK in the ICN shop
helped me tremendously..and quick too
within 2 days.
Now..the beer thing.
I have been feeling soooo good myself..that i tried it myself.
I took 2 sips. just 2 sips.
and my frequency was increased for close to 2 weeks
had i drank the whole beer...who knows..maybe i would have leaked too!
i am not a quitter though.
i plan on trying draft beer..maybe make it a little flat w/ salt.
...or maybe wine..
i hate to be afriad to try something.

Alcoholic beverages are a trigger for most ICers.

I know that. Trust me I do. I "knock on wood" don't seem to have issues til my period rolls around. then I get a flare.
