After 3 weeks the stubborn uti finally went away. Monday's culture came back negative but my symptoms have sayed just about the same.:help: My baldder refuses to calm down and in a day or two my period will start which means I will probably be miserable all weekend and into early next week.:cussing: I hate this disease. With the infection gone I will probably go back to doing some instills to help soothe my poor diseased bladder once my period is over. If not one thing it's another! I get sooooo tired this disease I could scream. I sure wish someone could come up with cure for IC so none us would have to live like this. I HATE IC! I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT.

I feel for you hon. I had a bad infection three months ago, and it took weeks for me to feel better again. I hope you get to feeling better again soon.

Oh, it is rotten. We know.

According to my doctor, there is no reason not to do instills while you have your period.

:grouphug: I feel for you. Burning is one of the worst things with IC. If you don't have High Blood Pressure, I have found that drinking 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda in a little water followed by a large glass of water really gives great relief from the burning. You can do this 2 or 3 times a day. Hope this helps and hope you have pain free days soon.:smile tee

Hope you feel better soon!!!!!
besides all the things to help soothe your bladder and lesson acidity I would include some muscle relaxing things since UTI's can really trigger some muscle tightness in your pelvic muscles which may be why the burning remains! :grouphug:

Thanks for all the advice and support. I really don't know what I would do without y'all. I tried some baking soda but I didin't do really do anything for me. I fell asleep on the couch watching TV around 9:30pm and I slept pretty good until about an hour ago. It's now 4am here in Texas and and can't sleep. I have peed 3 times in the last hour with little urine coming out.:toilet: :toilet: :toilet: The last time it felt I was peeing razor blades. I am also burning in between trips to the potty. Right now my bladder feels like it is full of fire ants.:help: To top it off my period has started so I don't expect very much improvement over the next few days.:cussing: This is awful. I am about to run out of pain meds and wouldn't you know it it's the weekend. I'm sorry if rambling I really need to get back to sleep if my stupid bladder would let me. Thanks for reading.

Girl, I feel your pain. I just got over a nasty uti myself. My last culture was also negative but my bladder hasn't seemed to get the message. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I need to vent.

I feel so hopeless tonight. I feel bad all over "Down There". I am peeing every 15-20 minutes. The burning is excruciating every time I go. My period pain is about twice as bad normal. Midol is not cutting it. I don't know if I am going to able to make it to Mom's house tomorrow for Mother's Day. My bladder always seems to act up at the most inconvienent times. Maybe it's my hunner's coming back. I don't know:help. I need your prayers and support.
Thanks in advance.

My period is starting to wind down. The burning has lessend quite a bit but my frequency has is still way up ( every 20-30 minutes). I worked from home today and that helped. I have to go in to the office for a very important meeting in the morning and tomorrow afternoon I have a meeting with a new client. So I am hoping I will be able to get the frequency down by in the morning. Lately I seem to have frequency even when I when my pain and burning are at bay. This disease is a constant battle that I get soooooo tired of fighting. I sure wish there was a magic potion I could take to get this horrible disease out of my body. I want to be cured.

Ugh Texas, I totally feel your pain. My period threw me into one of the worst flares that I have ever had last week. I missed work Monday and Tuesday of last week and still didn't feel completely better when I went to work on Wednesday. I hope that you are able to do okay with your meetings tomorrow and your frequency goes down :grouphug:

Uggghhh, I am on my period now and my bladder is in a bad flare!! My stomach is also in a huge flare and I am in pain and feel so bloated in my upper tummy. It sure does suck to have two awful diseases to deal with at once. I cant think of worse pain than bladder or tummy pain, and I am stuck with both. Thanks for hearing me vent.

I made it through the day okay at work. My frequency was still pretty bad most the morning. The staff meeting only lasted about 20 minutes. After lunch I had the meeting with the new client and I was able to hold it for during the meeting which lasted about 55 min. By the end of it my bladder was begining to get cranky. I really felt like my bladder was going to explode.
As soon as the meeting was over I rushed to the little girls room and I the burning had returned.:cussing: It felt as if was peeing hot acid. Terrible burning from the inside of my bladder through my urethra and all over my outer vaginal area. I guess I held it too long and I also had cutback on water intake all day leaving my urine way too conecentrated. This occured about 2:15pm and I immediately tanked up on water and of course I was going every 20 minutes after that until I left work at 4pm ( an hour early) On the way home I got stuck in traffic and had to hold it for almost an hour. By the time I got home I was almost in tears and I have been miserable ever since. I loaded up on pain meds after dinner and took atwo hour nap. I was awaken by a throbbing sensation in my bladder and I have been miserable ever since. I hate the fact I do not have I normal bladder. My friends, family and co-workers just don't understand what this is like.::loco: :headbang: :toilet:
I get so tired of having to explain this crappy disease to people I could just scream. It's really depressing to know that is no cure this debilitating disease.
I was diagnosed 3 years ago and I have made very little progress. Oh, I occasionally have short periods of relief but nothing that will last. I want permanent relief and I WANT IT NOW!

Thanks for reading my lastest rant:rant:

I am begining to feel a little bit closer to normal as each day passes but I am still in a pretty bad flare. The burning is still intense when I hold it more 30 minutes but I do feel better than I did last weekend. My period was over by Wednesday so that helped me somewhat. I have scheduled a cysto/hydro for next Thursday to see if my hunner's have come back. I will be on vacation starting Wednesday through Memorial Day. It 's not the best way to start a vacation:headbang: but I know the extra rest will do me good. I just wish I didn't have to deal this disease all the time. This flare started with a uti 4 weeks ago and I have been miserable most days ever since. I really don't know what else to say. I just want the pain, burning and frequency to go away.

Hi, TexasHoney -

I feel for you.

I am a new poster, and I noticed your posts and thought I'd say "hi."

I am going through IC episodes, too, and I'm miserable. I don't have burning, but I have a constant tickling around my urethra area, and I suspect it's aggravated by the change of life I'm going through. Everything dries up in there, ya know.

Yesterday, my bladder felt tender and a little sore - and I'm just sick of this. I AM drinking water - about 3-4 16-oz. bottles a day, and I am taking 1/2-tsp. of baking soda in a cup of water, about 4 times a day. I hope that helps neutralize things up in there. I read that it might help.

You're so right, when you say that other people don't know what this is like. I can try to describe to someone, yet I know that unless a person experiences this firsthand, there is NO way to really know how hard it is to deal with.

I had a horrible UTI a couple of months ago, and it's been touch and go for me ever since. I guess I'll soon be back in the urologist's office. :cussing:

Hello to everyone else out there, too! I wish we all could feel better.:grouphug:

Hello everyone, It's been a few days since I posted and while I feel a little better than I did about 10 days ago or so I am still a long way from being over this flare. This is becoming one my wosrt flares ever. My cysto/hydro is tomorrow and I am interested in seeing if my hunner's have come back. I have been reading a lot the posts about high pollen counts causing flares. We have had a lot pollen in the air lately here in North Texas due to all the rain. That could very well be a factor in this flare lasting so stiniking long.:cussing:
With IC it's like "If it's not one thing it's another". I just wish I didn't have such a sensiitive bladder.
