UGH UGH UGH UGH.

I think I've got an infection. :(

Yesterday evening coming home from work I got these horrible bladder spasms that took my breath away. When I pulled into the carport, I had one that made me sweat, and I couldn't get out of the car until it passed -- I could see my kitty crying in the windown and pawing at the glass, wanting his mom, but I just couldn't MOVE. Finally I was able to get out as it eased up, and bring my stuff, including some groceries, into the house. Another hit in the entry way and I collapsed onto the floor... and another hit in the kitchen when I was trying to feed my kitty and the dog. I almost passed out and had to lean against the counter until it eased.

I took pain meds and some Valium for the spasms, and then sat with my heating pad, and it eased up, but I did have a little burning sensation in my urethra when I peed.

I told hubby when he got home, because by then I felt nauseated from pain and didn't want dinner. We tried to think, did I eat something? No. Nothing unusual. So we just thought it might be a flare.

I did wake up in the night with pain creeping up my back, but it felt muscular, so I figured I was just sore from the way I was sleeping.

BUT... this morning I peed, and my first morning urine was cloudy and my husband commented that "Your pee REEKS..." when he came into the bathroom to start his shower.

UGH. Smelly cloudy urine + pain = infection, usually. I'm going to do a home test strip in a while, and then if it's positive (even if it's not) I'm off to do a urine drop at the Employee Health Clinic at work (free -- no copay ;) )

I feel gross.

Oh no Jen, what a bummer. Hopefully you can get in to the uro soon. Hopefully its not a kidley infection, it does sound quite serious from the back pain/and possibily a fever? Well take care of yourself, i'll pray that you will fell better soon.

I hope it IS an infection so something can be done to stop it in its tracks.

Sending warm hugs,

Jen, I know how you feel. I have had a uti for the past 2 1/2 weeks. It really sucks, doesn't it?. It sounds like your infection might have spread to your kidneys. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Take Care

Thanks ladies :)

Well, here's an update -- the at-home test was negative for nitrite but ever so slightly positive for white blood cells. However, those things often give me a false negative if I haven't been holding urine that long, and I did it about an hour after my last pee. *sigh* I mean, even the instructions for those strips say to hold urine for four hours...

Anyway, despite the negative home test, I have an appointment at 11:45 at the employee health clinic... they'll do a more sensitive test and prescribe antibiotics if necessary.

I have a set of symptoms that I often have during a UTI (kicked in the crotch feeling, a vague feeling of nausea, those spasms, super tired, etc)... plus, when your husband says, "Honey, your pee smells like a Porta-Potty..." you gotta suspect something is going on in there.

*sigh*

I shall update all after my visit to our free clinic....

Hi jen.
I hope you feel better soon!! Having a UTI on top of IC is awful. Big hugs to you.

That sucks Jen. I hope that it's an infection so you can get some meds and start feeling better soon.

Good luck Jen! I hope they do find some "bugs" so you will feel better more quickly. Thinking about you:angel: and waiting for an update. BTW, the "kicked in the crotch" feeling was hilarious-mostly becuase thats the best way you could describe it!:biglaugh:

Oh BOTHER!!

The test at the clinic was NEGATIVE too. And my urine actually doesn't smell now that I've peed a few times at work -- so that home toilet is getting scrubbed even harder than usual tonight because I'm wondering why there was that odor (mold under the rim that didn't get cleaned off because hubby cleaned the toilets last time??)

Regardless, I am still having episodes of horrible pain -- hubby and I went out to lunch, and afterwards I made him leave because the pain had gotten so bad that I thought I was going to throw up my lunch all over the table.

There is ONE good thing -- I was supposed to see my uro on the 24th, but his nurse called and said that he was going to be out of town then and wanted to change my appt. Turns out she had two cancellations on Monday (this coming one!) so I took the 11:30 slot... so if I'm still bad by Monday I've already got a doc appt set up :)

Jen- Looks like we can ride this thing out together! I'll be leaving work in about 15 minutes and I plan on going home and putting on my heating pad and not leaving the bed unless I have to get up to use the bathroom.

This afternoon at work we had a fire drill, not a fun thing when you are flaring!! felt like my bladder was falling out. (I had to walk down 6 flights of stairs-- all because some idiots burnt popcorn!!)

Oh, that's HILARIOUS, because earlier this week WE had to evacuate because some dummy burned popcorn as well!! Guess you and I are having parallel weeks... hope your flare goes away soon, Mary :grouphug:

Jen, that sounds like the pain and... *yay*... odor I have all the time. Miserable. :( I'm so sorry you're suffering. :(
