If anyone is interested, I posted pictures of the inside of my house on Photos #5 before Donna stopped that thread. :) If you think I should, I can repost them on this thread.
D...The roses are beautiful.
Tig...Love the new avatar pic of Ashley (pre hair cut) and Jake. How are you doing with the new "bum buzzer"?
Leslie...Isn't it funny how dogs know just what to do to annoy you.
Donna...I just noticed that you have posted over 15,000 posts. Thank you for all you do for us.

I had to post this in a large form because there are so many hilarious details. This is my little stepbrother, Evan. He's three years old and has some autistic tendencies, one of which being an obsession with holding on to certain things. In case you can't tell, he's wearing his mother's boots, no pants and is clutching a can of Febreze... among other things :)
Can you say... prom date blackmail???

Andrea...Thanks a lot. I am trying to lose a few pounds and the pix of your dinner did me in. Now I am going to have to go poking around for something to eat...Stay out of the M&Ms :tsk: Stay out of the M&Ms.
Evan is a real cutie. :)

Andrea--I dont recall receiving a dinner invite...:hmm:
Well, I was hoping to have a few snapshots of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip today, however the weather was too nasty for me to stand outside for several hours just to get a glimpse of Her Majesty and her Prince. If the weathers nice tomorrow I'm going to try to hunt them down. All I want is a quick picture, and to find out what the heck she has in her purse!
Rosalie--since y'all have ties to the Queen, do you happen to know what she carries in her handbag? And where have you been keeping yourself besides not here?..:hmm:

andrea...Kitty to Andrea..."You aren't going without me. Hey, is there room in this thing for my litter box?"

Once again, great pics everyone! :)
Sharon--my attempt to get a glimpse of Prince Philip proved to be quite a headache. Norfolk is nothing but a city of Secret Service at the time being. Unless you've got business down there, you might as well forget it.
We drove down hoping to get to see him when he landed--nope! Attempted to get close enough at Town Point Park to see him as he strolled the war memorial--nope! After that, we gave up. So, should you be reading this Prince Philip, "Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves! God Save The Queen!"..:)

Andrea--Her Majesty and Prince Philip were here in VA yesterday and today to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown Settlement. While I wasnt fortunate enough to see the Queen in person someone was kind enough to supply the pictures. I did, however, see the top of Prince Philips bald head amongst all his security today while he visited Norfolk, VA.:lmao: While I had my camera all set and ready to fire, the picture wouldnt have been anything but security so I didnt bother. :)
Hope you're feeling better today!

D,
The photo of the pink rose is great! I can't wait to see the new ones that come up this summer. Your neighbor should feel honored that you are taking photos of her flowers. We get to admire her gardens from all over the US. I still don't have any flowers where I am.

Ok, I'm back from the wilds of South Australia to find 3 pages of a newthread!
I shall be brief but here goes....
Tigger I've a bit scared of Rotties so that one I can handle!
Leslie I wish I could see your pictures in a larger format. I would love to see the girls up close and I love that Christmas pic....what an amazing tree!
Humpie first... hahahaha that better not be your real name :lmao: or you would never speak to your parents again. Yeah, the dogs cute but, hubba hubba for the fiance!!!
Shazza Checked out your house pictures. You lucky thing you, it is just lovely and I am sure we could all fit in there nicely for a party or five!
[B]Andrea I know I have been away, so my invitation to lunch must have gotten lost in the mail. That stir fry looks yummy. And that pic or the cat and mouse is priceless. ... does the mouse get anxious when the cat is so close?
Diana Don't you go attaching anything to do with the English queen to me...:lmao: I am a republican and voted that way a few years back... Alas! the majority of Aussies didn't agree with me!:cussing:
That Prince Phillip is a bit of a dud and has many nick names including....Phil the greek,Phlip the drip nad my personal favourite, Phil the dill :lmao:
Love all the rose pictures, they are stunning, even the ones you 'borrowed' from your neighbour.:lmao:
Where are all the photos from Tracey?
This pic was taken on the almost empty Lake George near Beachport where hubby and I stayed.

The view from the porch in the holiday house we rented. It was fantastic so see rain pelting down, you can see the drops in front of the Norfolk pines.
Rained everyday we were ther and on the trip back to Victoria. It was wonderful!

Tracey--you're back!..:woohoo:.hope you're feeling better!.Now, show us some pics!
Rosalie--I thought Australians and the British were the same people just living a ways apart from one another :hmm: I know y'all both eat that beer vat sludge, and the accents sound exactly alike to me. If I offended you I send my apologies.
Suebee--While I'd be more than happy to tell you that I'm a smart gardener, it would be a huge fib!.:lmao:..I am far from having a green thumb, thats for sure. Those rose bushes of mine do all their gorgeous producing w/o any help from me. I just sit back and take in the view.

Angela, they are wonderful photos. The little hummimg bird is amazing! And the one with the aeroplane looks quike ghostly! And I just love purple petunias......actually I love any purple flowers.
Sue, don't daffies just wreak of spring?. The smell of them and jonquilles brings back such wonderful childhood memories.
Andrea, that little kitten of yours looks like a cheeky little moggy. I'll bet you are able to waste a whole lot of time just watching his antics.
I got a little arty crafty while I was away. It was nice having the time to think about the shots I was taking, rather than the quick snaps.

Andrea--checked out your Flickr page and added you. I see you got that notice..:D
Angela--lovely nature shots. I especially like the one of the squirrel.
Sharon--while I'd cook for you anyday, the breakfast we enjoyed was from a local pancake and waffle house at the beach. Next time I'll invite you to come along..:)
Rosalie--I'll assume by your statement that there is a bit of difference between the Australians and British. I'm making a mental note of that so as not to end up with an eye jammy! Speaking of which, I was under the impression that the Australians and British werent violent people--perhaps I'm wrong with my assumption. :hmm: Maybe I'll ring my SIL in Glocestershire and ask her this question to see if I get the same response.

Hey D, what kind of wines are those? And do you really think just two bottles is going to be enough for all this mob? That is unless, of course, we all contribute a bottle or two.... fine by me!... I will bring a nice Cabernet Merlot from the Hunter region of New South Wales and perhaps a Crouchen Riesling from Pipers Brook in the wilds of Tasmania. Oh My!.... Diana, do you reckon that one 'yay" is enough to sway you? It would be nice to hear the opinions of the other girls. Rosalie---lovely pictures of your part of the world! The last picture would make a nice desktop image. :) And check you out on the beach all relaxed looking and what not--I guess thats what getting-away is all about though, huh?--rest and relaxation.
Regarding my "mystery" vacation...If all I get is one "yay" response then I suppose it'll have to be enough to sway me; however, I would like to get the others opinions just so I can see what the majority-rule turns out to be. :)...While technically I *know* where I'm going to be vacationing, I guess it could still be considered a "mystery" to me since I know very little, if nothing, of the particular region I'm venturing to.
So people, share your opinions..would y'all venture to places unknown? We know Ro would!

Rosalie, Those photos were totally awesome!
Diana, cute shrek doll. Glad to hear your baby birds are doing well. I went out to check on my cardinal nest on mother's day and the babies were gone and the nest destroyed. I think racoons got them. I really got depressed about those poor baby birds, especially it being mother's day and all.

OK....riddle me this batman!.. How come when I don't get to the boards for a few days....it goes bonkers with more posts than I can possibly remember and have to take notes so as to answer/comment on them all. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut, when I have time to check things out every day, there are only a few posts?
Now don't get me wrong because I love Shazza and D but what gives? It can't be my chronic body odour or the fact that I spit when I talk (my monitor can look like a rain wall at times) or the fact that I dribble and my goggle eyes point in different directions or the fact that occassionally my head can do a freakish 'Exorcist" 360 degree rotation... or is it? Nah, you lot can't see or smell any of that. Nor can you see the blood encrusted knives hanging in the hallway or the half dug 6' holes in my back yard waiting for the next unsuspecting roofing-repair man touting for business at my front door.
I don't want to, but I guess I may have to take it personally  I shall just have to crawl away to my cosy little coffin bed tucked away in the basement and try to think happy thoughts......I wonder if Diana would let me come along on her mystery trip with her?
PS I see Janie you have joined in today...Hahahahaha I must remember to take you off my hit list...

Thanks Diana, I like that picture too. They were taken while I sat on the beach as David was fishing. I was tucked away in the grassy area trying to keep out of the breeze. It was dark before he gave up and let a few fish go hungry. The resultant pictures were very interesting I thought.
Shaz, I looked up and Davo was mucking around with the camera. Usually, I prefer being the photographER than the photographEE. And I also, love being near the sea (just not IN the sea...too much sand in the aussie cozzie!). I can just sit on the beach and watch the waves rolling in for hours.

Tracey...I see the search party found you. :lmao: Those flowers are so sweet. I love wild flowers. I even think some flowering weeds are pretty. Especially those wild small purple ones. I think they are wild lavenders. Oh, and the tiny daisy-like ones. I like those, too. Call me strange, but I think Dandelions are pretty, too. :loco:

Gorgeous, gorgeous flowers Tracey!!
Sharon, depending on where MuShu's hair falls over his eyes it can make him have a bit of a hound dog, sad expression. He's feeling great, thankfully.
Rosalie, sure wish I was there on that beach with ya! :-)
Diana, hope you are feeling totally better now, hon! Still hoping to wring that info about the mystery vacation out of you! Hey, enquiring minds want to know! LOL
Andrea, that black kitty with the blue eyes is such a cutie pie!!!!
Here's a photo taken of MuShu in my home photo studio. Click on thumbnail to enlarge.

What a little character that MuShu is! Janie, you must never tire of taking his photo.
Andrea, that is one cute kitty. Do you ever get any work done with him around?
They are such sweet little flowers Tracey, they just smack of spring. Are they american natives?
Hahahahaha Shaz, too much sugar from Mother's Day chocolates I guess... it has left my system and I am feeling much better now :lmao:
Where is Diana today? Out making arrangements for that mystery trip? Perhaps she will tell us where she is going when she has finally made up her mind whether or not to go. And, it seems to be the general consensus that she should take that holiday. Hey, D, can you give us any hints?

Again great photos Andrea!! I just love critters, lol. ;) Mine today feels the need to sit on my lap while I type, good grief!
Janie - that home studio just sounds like so much darn fun! And I can see you are having a really good time with it - that's the important thing! ;) We all need a little fun....
And thank you ladies from my little wildflower, lol. I took a walking tour of my back yard the other day to see what was out there, and I found a few more of them - I must move them so they can be spared from the lawnmower, lmao!!
Sharon, I am so like you - I love them all even weeds! But don't they say weeds are defined as a plant where you don't want it?? ;) I have loved dandelions since I was a kid, I know the little purple ones you are talking of - I have them too, and the cowslips in the marshy areas are gorgeous this year! I need to get over to the cabin, because they are EVERYWHERE around there. Would make great pictures. So, maybe this weekend I can scoot over before they are done. It was amazing, I'd never seen so many...
I forgot to tell Diana to definitely go for the trip - any chance to escape is a GOOD one!!! Hopefully she's listened and is off making arrangements...hee hee hee!!!! :)

Every Year my home town puts of a very large Lilac Festival in Highland Park. I snapped a few, although I was having a lot of trouble taking photos that day for some reason the camera was very shaky. I wanted some better shots. I thought I woud show them off anyway. I was also having some trouble with my own computer so I have not checked out your current photos. I will do that now.
Our Weddings are coming up next week for my roomate and my Sister. (I hope you all won't mind us putting up those shots as they come along. My Husband will be taking those photos. He's much better at it than I am. LOL:lmao:

Why thank you Sharon, but it appears Mother Nature just can't make up her mind...there's a frost/freeze warning/watch thingy in effect for tonight, boo hiss. And it's a whopping 55 degrees out today, geesh!! But I am finally seeing plants! YAY!!!
Oh I love love love lilacs!!! My girlfriend gave me an offshoot of one of hers many many moons ago, and they never did anything where they were at. So last year hubby moved them and told them if they don't flower, they're outta there - well, yay! I am going to have a few blooms this year finally!!!! YAHOOO!!! So, I love seeing them Kara, thanks for sharing!! Hey, I too sometimes have trouble with the camera shake thing, I get lots of blurry shots sometimes when they shouldn't be, grrrrrr. Sue, was that the actual houseboat you used? Looks like a very interesting area. So, whats the story with the 'pick up'? hey?
Tracey, The blue in those plants is so vibrant...I love blue flowers!
Kara, I reckon I can smell those lilacs from over here. Their scent brings back such vivid memories from my childhood. The perfume would hang in the warm summer air. And my mum's lilacs would be encircled by the little Bogong moths that are around at that time of the year. As a littlie, the whole scene fascinated me for some reason... the sight and the smell always make me smile at the memory of such happy days.
Looking forward to the wedding shots!

Sharon - Well, hubby and lived on the wild side and didn't do anything special for the plants and they did fine! Whew! Nothing like Green Things Roulette!! LMAO!!! We are so near Lake Huron that usually that cuts us some slack when it come to the frost/freeze things, inland has a much greater risk for damage - but I can't say I wasn't nervous!!!
suebee OH! I LOVE pansies and violas!! I had a ton of them last year, looked great and bloomed all year long, was hoping since they are perenials that they'd "stick" but, I only have a few of them this year, bummer. I must buy more!! ;)
Janie - Wow! Fabulous pictures, just amazing. I love the Tiger!!! So perfect, did you tripod or no? They are just so nice, and I am getting so frustrated with my camera! UGH! Or maybe it's just me, lol. I know, I know, practice practice practice....But I want to know NOW! And let me tell you, the Bethlehem Sage grows like crazy. It's very easy to deal with. Plant it and let it go, lol. It likes shade, I had moved it to my sunnier bed one year and oh my, talk about droopy, so she went back to her shady spot. And it's the first plant, besides the bulbs etc, that flowers in the spring, so nice to see.... ;)
Ro They are neat too, cause I can't remember if they start out that color then turn pink as they age...or if it's the other way around. LOL
I was outside when I got home from work today and got a few shots, and as I was snapping away, I heard a funky noise, and looked across the street and the neighborhood turkey decided my neighbors roof was the place to be, lol. This is the 2nd day I have seen him cruising the street...lol. I will have to get it uploaded and share, it was quite humorous.... :)

To answer your question--yes I've decided what I'm doing..haha..and yes, I'm gonna go! Found out a few minutes ago that my passport is in fact in the system (just applied this week and it wasnt showing as having been received via the website so decided to call) so was able to get my passport number, called my travel agent and gave her this information so she could get my visa, and she's in the process right now of booking my trip. Now all I need is to hope that all my plans fall into place-we shall see. If not, then I suppose I'm on my own, which will be OK too. :)

Rosalie, The house boat trip was an Elderhostel program at Lake Powell, Utah. Everynight we slept on the boat, the shimmer in the picture is the water refecting on the canyon walls. The old Indian setting next to me is the pickup, in Durango, Colorado, an other Elderhostel trip where we rode the steam train, narrow gauge rails thru the mountians. Took a walk in the woods today, so woodland photos are here http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/th_birds20and20flowers20019.jpg (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/birds20and20flowers20019.jpg) http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/th_birds20and20flowers20017.jpg (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/birds20and20flowers20017.jpg) New ferns unfolding and a red trillium

Janie---I know how depressing the mysteriously vanishing birds can be. The first nest we had a few weeks ago mysteriously vanished. I can only guess something got ahold of them, though this would have had to have been quite the feat for the predator as they were snugly tucked into the window sill.
These birds are in the same window sill just on the opposite side of the a/c as the last nest.
I just posted some pics..theyre not very clear as I was having to protect myself from momma bird--she wasnt very happy with me!

Hey guys, I have posted on the prayer request thread but most of my friends on the ICN are you who post on the photography thread. So, I am asking for your thoughts and prayers for my son Campbell.
Although he, (and I was starting to think he was right) believed he had this depression beaten, is starting a renewed battle with this rotten disease.

Lee Ann - I am with the rest, I love your pooch!! What a cutie, holy cow!!!
Diana - No, I am guilty of not scoping out the Canon site yet, yes yes, you can kick my butt, lol. I am just having a hard time getting all the settings down and what not. I know all it takes is a bit of work in the book, but I am a stubborn one, like to learn on the fly, lol. And we see where that's gotten me haven't we? I can't master the macro yet, I am having a hard time with the focusing etc, and don't understand sometimes WHY it's not focusing when I think it should be, blah blah blah. Ugh. I will have to check out their site and probably drag the book back out again...grrrrr
Oh Sharon, I would be terrified to see what kinds of little "presents" Turkey Claus would bring!! LMAO!!!! He started hanging around near end of summer last year, and I was surprised to see him (ahem, excuse me, hubby has pointed out it's a HER, geesh), so again - I was surprised to see her this year again... and she seems by herself too. hmmmmm.....

My backdrops and lights came in handy for this photo.
Diana, that mama bird is sure a good protector. I was amazed at how timid the cardinal mama and papa were. Apparently if they had been as assertive as mama robin the babies would probably still be here.
Tracey, tell me again which canon you got? I have the Rebel and the little A620. Hey Diana!! We need a "Diana's Grandbird's Webcam" thing going on so we can keep an eye on them at all hours of the day and night!!! I would have freaked right out at Mamma bird coming after me - I am afraid of birds, lol. She'd have no problem with me at all, lol. "Ok, Mamma - I am outta here!" ;)
Janie, I have the Canon PowerShot S3 IS. It's so darn frustrating when you are so used to one camera, had it all down pat and could use it in your sleep, lol, then wham! A whole new ballgame that I am honestly surprised does not do my laundry and my dishes for me, lmao!!! ;) I told my Mom-in-law she needs to take me to the Detroit Zoo so I can get snaps of the critters like you did!!! :) There's a manual-type side to the dial, and then all the presets. I have seemed to stay on the manual-type settings side, so far my first setting to try to master is the AV mode, or the apperature priority selection. But there are soooooooooooooo many and so many variables, I think I will be dead and buried beofre I figure them all out, lol. And yes, would love that link, I will pm you k? My pet will have no part of photos, lol, but I want to do some stuff for my sister-in-law and my inlaws and ANY information I can get would be wonderful!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!

dg2901, you are so lucky to be watching the show. Mother bird is being very protective. I am seeing robins eggs here and there in my yard, but not sure where the nests are. I have a pair of pileated woodpeckers, making a nest way high, hear them calling so loudly. Woke up one morning in my little camper, in the back 40, and outside the window were 2 of them climbing up the trunk of a small tree, think it was mateing thing. A camera would have been nice to have. Been watching the spring flowers bloom, they don't move so can take pictures.http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/birdsandflowers016.jpghttp://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/birds20and20flowers20019.jpghttp://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/birds%20and%20flowers/birdsandflowers015.jpghttp://http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/birdsandflowers016.jpghttp://http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/birds20and20flowers20019.jpghttp://http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/birds%20and%20flowers/birdsandflowers015.jpghttp://http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/suebee_photo/birds%20and%20flowers/birdsandflowers008-1.jpg

OMG, you got your hair pulled out and poop bombed by a bird today??? No wonder you don't like birds they have it in for you!!
I have to say I'm enjoying the photos of the grandbirds, even though you are taking your life into your own hands to get them. Be careful out there and next time wear a rain slicker! ;-)

so its happened again! I'm miles behind all the goings on here.
Diana, watch out for those nesting mummas, they will take the all the hair off your head and a bit of scalp too,if you aren't careful :lmao: And the, little birds will look much better once they have their clothes on.
Sue, what is the little maroon flower? and the birds, what are they too?
LeeAnn, I laughed myself silly when I saw the pic of your gorgeous dog...he looks like Grissom!
Tigger, Jake is sure growing up fast. They do that too you...one minute they fit in the crook of your arm and before you know it, they are picking you up!
Janie. That is a lovely shot of the little frog. They say you have a very healthy garden if there are frogs in it. And, are they bees or wasps? My cousins used to build model aeorplanes. As kids we were invited to see their maiden flights which coincidentally were usually their final flights as well!:lmao: :lmao:
Tracey, Is that a wild turkey on your roof? Maybe he reckons its safer to stay up there until after next Thanksgiving!
While this photo isn't particularly interesting, I thought you might like to know that if you swam out past the surfer and keep going, you would end up in Antartica! :lmao:

Yikes, I am behind again, geesh - Ro and I must be off galavanting together, all that swimming's made me thirsty, lol.
And yep, Ro, on the woodpecker question, they do - and it can drive me crazy some days, ;) And makes me nervous, as most don't "drill for food" in healthy trees, so I always hope the ones I hear are in the neighbors trees!!!! hee hee hee!!! And she's a wild turkey - I think you're right, she thought it was a "safe" place to wait out Thanksgiving, LMAO!!! We all are thinking she has a nest around here somewhere...
Suebee, that trillium is sooooo pretty! We have it wild all over the place around here, but unfortunately NONE in our yard - grrrrr. Guess I have to buy it if I want it - crazy!!
Tig, he's gotten soooo big! OMG, but soooo adorable, those pics were great, please share more, he so fun to watch grow up and do silly things!!!
Janie, those are blanket flowers aren't they?? I love those! Great shots of the bee, and lol, I do hope you were at a safe distance, ;)
Diana!!! Glad to see you back! It's ok, everyone has those "moments", just as long as you're back, that's all that matters!!! :)
Here's a couple shots of the garden that was newly put in last year, the one I thought hubby was crazy for building, thinking it would take forever to fill it, ha ha - yikes. Was I wrong! By end of summer it was filled.... LOL!!!

Thank you for the compliment Diana - will work for food and beer, hee hee. Although, the beds might get a little crazy looking if we do beer first, then food. HA!!!! ;)
And thank you too Janie! The funny thing about those rocks is, in my older flower beds, the rock borders are rocks that I have dug out while planting something!! LMAO! It's crazy, and some are HUGE. But, we have a gravel pit just past the dead end of my street, so that should tell you why we have so many rocks, lol. We did have to break down and buy a truckload (just the bed of the little pickup) to rock in that bed, since it was bigger than we found rocks for. And to think, my borders started all because of my not knowing where else to put the rocks I dug out....
I got a few more pics I will have to get on photobucket so I can share....
Hmm, maybe they are all out playing in the nice warm weather????

Oh I can't wait to see the new bathrooms, Sharon!!
I think our house renovations are done for a while after adding the granite counter tops. We had thought about trying to finish out our attic, but the house here was not designed for two stories and the contractors said it was going to be a major ordeal and would cost us $90,000 so we decided against it. We really could use the extra room though.
Rosalie

Hey D, glad to see you are back. Now for some more pics of the baby birds if mother bird will let you get near.
Tracey, your garden looks so fresh and green. After some rain, my garden is picking up again too. Is that hubby on the phone in the pic? "No, sorry I can't come out for a beer, the wife has me working in the garden!":lmao:
Shazza, I'm sooooooooo jealous of the renovations. And did you say three bathrooms? How delightful! I wish we had an extra one. No more standing outside threatening all kinds of horrors to the enthroned occupant to "turn the gameboy off and get out of there or risk having company!" Hahahaha
Janie, why is it that no matter where you are, major renovations end up costing more that the origional house? Sometimes I think it cheaper to pull the whole thing down and start again :lmao:
I thought you all might get a giggle out of this picture. While we were in SA we visited an interpretive centre about Mary MacKillop, who is about to be cannonized as Australia's first saint. She was the initiator of an order of nuns who, by the way, taught me.
Anyhoo, in the original schoolhouse in Penola they had these barbie dolls dressed to show how the nuns' habit had changed over the years.
HAhahahahaha..... if only Sister Fara could see them !:lmao:

Taylor Hicks
I've been catching up on all the photos, love reading and seeing everyone's pictures, so I just had to add one of mine. For my birthday my husband got us tickets to see Taylor Hicks. So I snapped this photo at the concert. It was a riot. I hadn't been to a concert for, well, for a really long time. It was alot of fun.
I can't get this picture to get very big. I used photobucket and clickable thumbnails. Any suggestions??

Tracey--you work cheap--:woohoo: ..haha..I'd of course provide you with enough food to counteract most of the effects of the beer. :D..Let me know when you're available so I can get prepared; perhaps next week sometime??..;)
Sharon--you do the "happy dance" well!........I'm wishing you nothing but a very organized and smooth renovation! Cant wait to see the pictures!!
Janie--:hi: Hope your day found you well!
Rosalie--interesting picture of the nun's dress through the years. Guess having been taught by the nuns this find probably brought back memories.
Robin--glad to see that youve joined us over here. Hope you remain a regular..:)...Regarding the size of the picture--is that the size of the original that you uploaded?
Well, sad to say that all my grandbirds have "left the nest". I went out to check on them the other day and when I approached 3 flew out at me and one remained on the edge of the nest looking at me as if asking permission to leave too..haha...very cute I must say! Momma bird though was none too happy and proceeded to squawk and carry on all day into the night. Even today she's still not happy when I go into the backyard. The blurriness is due to camera shake from me swatting at momma bird as she bombarded me!
Heres a picture of the last baby sitting on the nest all alone looking at me....

Diana, Yum Yum on those strawberries! They are the biggest I think I've ever seen.
Robin, so glad you figured out how to make the clickable thumbnails. I enjoyed seeing Taylor Hicks up close! :-)
Guess what guys, I got yet another new camera. (I have the most generous hubby in the world, I have to brag!) I bought the new Canon XTi and boy am I loving it.
You'll be seeing lots of photos with it soon. I took the flying Shih tzu photo with it this afternoon. I had been trying to get that same kind of photo for the last 8 months with my Rebel but just couldn't get the shot. Took only a couple of tries with the XTi. It's a much faster camera!

Sharon, tell me about it (bathroom cleaning)!
I have given in and finally gotten someone to come help me for a few hours once a week. I don't mind doing the rest of the work but I really hate cleaning bathrooms, mainly because of all the chemicals! I just know, it can't be good for my IC to be exposed to all those chemical fumes!

Robin--yeah, I can eat strawberries. Fortunately I'm not too terribly diet sensitive; very little bothers me. Having said that, I'm a stubborn one who's made up my mind that I'm not giving up certain things even if they do bother me..:loco:..and strawberries, chocolate and coffee are 3 of those things..:D..For the record, I do take a couple of Prelief before consuming something I *think* might cause problems.
I saw in the local paper that your Taylor Hicks will be playing here in a couple of a weeks..haha..
Janie--lens prices are scary!! :help: I cant wait to see pics! :)

Hey Sharon, would love to come visit and dig in the dirt, as you can see by my post to D, I work cheap! ;) And by the way, how's the bathroom reno going along?
Ro - yup, that's hubby on the phone in the garden picture, lol. He was chatting with his parents at the time, telling them all about the new stuff we did and new plants we added, lmao.
And Little Miss D - snooping are we?? LOL That sounds like my situation I was in for Christmas. Tracey--its about time you showed your face around here! I'm guessing that all the landscaping is keeping you preoccupied--however, it should be supplying you with lots of photo ops! :D Speaking of which, your little frog/toad friend is very cute; he needs a name! :hmm: And the 3rd pic would make for a neat desktop image. :)

LOL, he was one of two that were in the Shastas, so cute! So tiny too! I couldn't get a good shot of the other little one, he was on a leaf at an odd anlge, this guy was right in the middle. Ok, is Kermit to obvious??? ;)

Tracey...I am agreeing with D about the 3rd pic. That is wonderful. How about Leap Frog for a name? About as original as Kermit.
As far as the bathroom redo...Hubby begins the destruction this Saturday. He is just about gutting the Master Bathroom and will be taking out the floor and tile in the bathtub in our downstairs hall guest bathroom. That means that we have to use the bathroom upstairs to take showers and the half bath downstairs to potty and brush teeth. I am already ready for it to be done.

If anyone heard an unusual noise coming from the east at around 4:10pm today, that was me groaning at the name ideas for the frog. :help:
Actually, I laughed out loud at those names...:biglaugh:
I want to put my name suggestions in the hat too though. How about Fluffy? Frito? Sir Hopalot? Spot? Little Green Giant? :hmm:

And yes, I love them froggy names, ha ha ha. How in the heck is a girl supposed to chose? And to think I've just been calling him Froggy, hee hee.

Tracey, those pics are lovely. Sprinklers here, have long since rusted and been sent to the rubbish bin. Never mind hahahaha... we are not allowed to use them anyway. Poor little froggies...I don't know where they can be hiding.
As for names...our neighbour had a cat called 'frog", perhaps you could call the frog "cat" :cat:
Shazza, we are in the middle of some renovations as well. Nothing very exciting but we are extending the storage room in the roof...Hahahahaha a new home for more junk that we sould probably throw away anyway :lmao:
Kara, great to see your photos. I, too, am a sucker for weddings. The bouquet was beautiful! Roses are my favourite.

D, Bilbo Baggins! Frodo's cobber from Lord of the Rings fame.
Tracey, what is it with sprinklers? they never spin, pulse or wave for more than a few days after you pay a bloody fortune for them!
Hilz is off to see the Australian Ballet at the State Theatre tonight, so rather than two trips in and out of the city I suggested we make a night of it for ourselves. So hubby and I are getting dinner and a night out. It should be fun as we haven't done that for a while and I have some bogof vouchers..even better! Hubby is busy demolishing our master bath this weekend. He looks like he is having fun but says it is hard work. What is it with men and smashing things? I should go and take a picture of him. Excuse me for a minute...Done! I will have him host it when he comes up for air.
Ro...So you are going through the renovation thing, also.
Janie...The rain was great. Did you know that we are 12 inches below normal rain fall? They are using the words "severe drought". Your flower looks happy.

Diana,
Nice 'bokeh" (blurred background) on the dandelion photo. What camera did you for that? You are getting very good results with it.
Sharon, Wow- had no idea that we were that far behind on the rainfall. The first year we moved here, back in 1999 (I think) we had a severe drought and heat wave. It was awful. Hope we don't have a repeat of that this summer!
Can't wait to see a photo of your hubby's demolition!

Jane--great picture!! Are your walls getting full from all the frameable pics?..:D
Well, I just missed an awesome photo-op! Harborfest and Sail Virginia 2007 are both happening this weekend down on the Norfolk harbor. There are numerous international tall ships, amongst other vessels all docked at the marina. Didnt make it down there during the day today, but figured "well, we're going tonight to see the fireworks so I'll get pics then"--weeeeelllll, we left, got halfway there and guess what??--the camera was sitting neatly in its case at home!..grrrr! I thought the husband had grabbed it since he had it a few minutes before we left out taking pictures of yet another momma bird and her eggs; instead of putting it in the car, he brought it back in and placed it nicely where it belongs when not in use..:cussing: So, we watched the spectacular fireworks saying "well that would be a lovely shot", "i bet that would have looked great on film".."imagine how that would have looked", etc etc etc.. On that note, I'm going to grab the camera now so we can venture back to the waterfront to get some pics.
Hopefully i'll have something worthy of posting next time I log on.
Hope y'all are having a great weekend!

Jane--glad that you think those night shots look OK. They dont look like they're quite in focus to me. Not sure what else I could do to improve as I had the aperture open to accomodate the low light, and I used steady structures for a make-shift tripod. :hmm:
Was hoping to get back down there today to get pictures of the ships with their sails up, however whatever bug i've managed to catch and keep for a couple of weeks kept me grounded at home. Maybe tomorrow.
Oh, and the headless human is the husband..hahaha..Was one of those moments where he moved as I was taking the picture and the result..headless!..:lmao: Wasnt going to post it, then I figured maybe y'all would find it funny. :)

I am so jealous. I have always wanted to live by the ocean. The closest I have come to that dream was the 8 months we lived in Southeast Georgia. The Atlantic Coast was within a couple of hours drive from us. Oh, also when I lived in middle California. The Pacific was about a 3 hours drive.

Sharon--thanks for the lovely comment! :)..Every year theres a festival here of tall ships from around the world; this year Sail Virginia just happened to fall on the same weekend (or perhaps it was planned) as Harborfest--a local harbor waterfront festival (Elizabeth River) that started about 25 years ago when a Norweigan tall ship docked near NOAA and allowed tours which brought some 13,000 visitors...........Living by the water is nice--I tend to take all its beauty for granted though. :tsk: ..I'm 5 minutes from the Elizabeth River, 10 minutes from the Intracoastal Waterway (runs from Norfolk to Key West, FL), and 25 minutes from the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean....Now, if I had a boat I'd be set! :D
Jane--waiting on your next shot of things creepy and/or cute! :D
I posted this same shot a month or so ago taken during daylight hours; thought it would make an interesting night time image..

and yet another nest of eggs..I think i'm going to start charging rent!..

G'day all! What a fantastic array of photographs you have all shared.
Janie, the colour and definition of your shots is stunning. He might be a bit creepy to some, but that little fly has character in his face :lmao: What length telephoto did you use in those pics? And is that your little girl in the b & w shot? Looks like she is having a lot of fun playing in the water.
Diana, your night shots have a warm glow to them and the subject matter is very interesting. I'm with Shaz on the 3rd photo of the daytime ones....great composition! Sounds like you had a fun time at the weekend festivities. And I love the headless hubby Hahahaaa... Its the way I'd like to see mine somedays! :lmao:
Tracey, congratulations on your anniversary. I hope you two have had a lovely celebration.
Sharon, great pic of the carpenter. I had to laugh at the "big boys toys!" I shouldn't though, as I have been having loads of fun with drills and electric saws myself....I now have an insight into why they love playing with them so much. How far did he get with the work over the weekend?
Our little reno, is taking longer then expected but hopefully we will have it up and running by next weekend. I am getting tired of having half the contents of the roof in my dining room and lounge.
Working in such confined spaces has been an interesting exercise with hubby :lmao:

A view in the other direction shows the much loved 'junk' stored in my roof.
My SIL reckons that instead of extending the storage capacity, I should have a garage sale! I was horrified! Hahaha

This is the ladder used to reach the attic room.....I have been up and down the bloody thing about 50 times!

Diana,
Fabulous shots one and all. Makes me wish I could have gone with you! John and I actually got to go to a party on a tall ship a long, long time ago. I can't even remember which country it was from now.
Sharon, thanks for the kind comment on my photo! Go Vols, indeed!!
Ros, that's great that you have so much storage space!
Oh, as for the lens I was using for those macro shots. You aren't gonna believe it but I was using my tiny little Fuji Finepix 30 camera for some of them. You can get some pretty amazing macros with that little camera.
I did just get a new macro lens today. It's a 100mm Canon macro and I've been having some mixed results with it. I need to either use a tripod or get a little steadier hand. I did get a few good shots with it though here are a couple - Yes, the weird "robber fly" came back and posed for me again, bless his hairy little soul:

Jane---what an experience to have been invited on board a tall ship, and to party no less!.:woohoo: The ship from Uruguay was having quite the party the other night; if you're experience was anything like that, I can only imagine the fun y'all had! :)
Regarding your new macro lens--does it, or the camera, not have image stabilization built in?
:)

Janie..."The Return of the Fly" :lmao: It seems that many insects are attracted to that orange flower. They must be Vol fans. :lmao:
Ro...It looks like you have been very busy with the attic. Hubby got the entire bathroom gutted by Sunday evening. Now, I am waiting for the Marble Guys to show up this morning to begin installing the Marble on the floor and shower stall. That jackhammer in Hubby's hands caused a great cloud of fine, white dust to settle all over my bedroom. :tsk: Do I ever have a cleaning job ahead of me when this project is finished. Once the master bathroom is finished, it is on to the Hall Guest Bathroom. He gets to do it all over again. This time, he will keep the door closed to contain the dust...I can hope.
D...Once again, the reflection in the water is wonderful.

I just asked John which ship it was and he said it was the Libertad from Argentina. Yep, it was quite a party! John was the Admiral's Aide when we lived in Puerto Rico so we got to do some pretty amazing things. Not to brag (too much ;-) but the highlight experience was when we got to take a helicopter ride over Angel Falls in Venezuela. I just wish I was in to photography then like I am now! I've got some photos somewhere of Angel Falls but they are pretty awful! Of course, since I was experiencing white knuckle terror from the helicopter ride, the odds of getting any good photos would have been pretty slim anyway!!:biglaugh:

Jane--I bet flying over Angel Falls via helo was quite the experience; while you might not have the best pictures, you'll always have the mental image. :)......i've got family in Puerto Rico--lovely place!
Sharon--can't wait to see the finished results of the bathroom remodel. And know I'll be with you in spirit when you're cleaning up the dust. :D
Rosalie--you keep such a neat storage area.
I'm going to be few and far between for the next few days due to bronchitis and pneumonia.:( I'm now on a course of heavy-duty antibiotics thats messing a bit with my stomach, along with a very nasty tasting cough suppressant thats making me drowsy. Who the heck gets sick in the summer??? :hmm:
Hoping to be back in camera commission soon! :)

Holy cow am I behind, lol. And of course it's go home time here at work and no chance to catch up properly!!! ;)
Anniversary was nice, we spent a quiet weekend at home, would have liked to have done more, but this year $$ is tight, so we hung out and just enjoyed the nice days - and yes, snuck in some plant purchases, lol. But they were cheap, good deals at the local Kmart, lol!! My mom went to the Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park on Sunday, so she was up and out at about 7:30 and didn't get home til 10:30pm, so we had the house to ourselves Saturday (she worked) and Sunday, so it was nice and quiet!! LOL
Work's been a sheer nightmare, so much to do and guess who gets to do all of it, lol. I am hoping tomorrow I can get properly caught up, I even have a few new photos I took this past weekend, hoping I got one or two good ones, haven't really even spent much time looking at them, ugh!
I am loving all the pics here lately - more comment on those tomorrow! :) Well, now except for this trend towards the creepy crawlies, lol. I can't seem to get any of the bugs in my yard to sit still enough, grrrrrrr....
Ok, gang, until tomorrow.... it's go-home time and since we didn't make it this weekend, I am making hubby take me out to the movies to see the 3rd Pirates of the Carribean tonight (I hope, if not it's tomorrow night, lol) - I just love Johnny Depp!!! tee hee!!!

Hi all! :hi:
Just a quick pop-in before my medicine kicks in and I need a bed!..haha...Gotta love the narcotic cough medicine!
Rosalie--thanks for the well wishes. Hope your attic renovation is going smoothly.
Sharon--thanks for the nice comment! :D..Hopefully I'll be back to some sort of 'normalcy' very soon, 'cause I miss you too! :)
Jane--love those flowers!! :)--I feel MUCH better now, thanks!

Janie...I love the new picture of you.
D...(((HUGS)))
Tracey...I am a Johnny Depp fan, myself and especially when he plays Capt. Jack. He plays to my quirky side. :D I have heard that the lastest Pirates is somewhat disappointing, though. Not enough of Capt. Jack from what people are saying. Oh well, I am going to see it anyway. A little of Capt. Jack is better than none at all.

D - you better be taking care of yourself - or esle.....(or else what I don't know, but I am sure I will come up with something!!! ;)
Janie, I have been meaning to ask you, is that a watermark program you use for your name, or are you photoshopping it in, etc. I have a watermark program, but I don't know, not as nice...
Sharon - I am with you on Capt Jack - zowie I love that man in that character! You got it too - defintely goes to the quirky side! I liked it, probably because I have seen all 3 and this one fills in some blanks etc, but definitely leaves room for more adventures! And I personally, thought there was quite a bit of our Favorite Capt, hee hee. I also liked the way Elizabeth really got to be involved this time around, I want to be like her when I grow up! LOL ;) Now, Jeremy didn't care for it, it was long, about 2.5 hours - and I agreed with him the story could have been told a lot quicker, things were drug out a bit. But oh well, I liked it, there were quite a few twists and one "OH MY GOODNESS!" part, for me anyway. It's frustrating to not spill it all, lmao!!! :)
Well, I am hoping tomorrow I can get some of my pics up etc... been too nuts at work today. I don't get it, this whole week has been crazy - it's like someone has released the Krakken upon me.... argh matey.... lol. ;)
